Republican planning impeachment articles against Biden over Israel weapons hold

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) is prepping articles of impeachment against President Biden after he warned that the U.S. will stop supplying offensive weapons to Israel if its forces launch an invasion into Rafah.

Mills, a first-year lawmaker, unveiled his impeachment resolution Thursday, which charges Biden with abuse of power, and he said he plans to “pursue action” Friday.

Senator Ted Cruz is rebranding — at least for now.

The Texas Republican, whose opening salvo as a freshman senator in 2013 was leading the charge to shut down the government over the Affordable Care Act, has earned a reputation in Congress as a rabble-rousing, uncompromising conservative firebrand who tends more toward obstinance and anti-establishment tirades than bipartisanship or teamwork.

But for the first time this week, Mr. Cruz, now the senior Republican on the Commerce Committee, embraced a wholly unfamiliar role: managing a major piece of...

President Biden’s top economic adviser said on Friday that lawmakers should take advantage of a looming tax debate next year to try to reduce budget deficits by sharply raising taxes on corporations and the rich.

Under that plan, Mr. Biden would more than offset the cost of maintaining tax cuts for people earning $400,000 a year or less.

In a speech to the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution in Washington, Lael Brainard, who directs the White House National Economic Council, gave the most detailed explanation yet of how Mr. Biden would...

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, accused his Senate opponent, Democratic candidate Rep. Colin Allred of Texas, of being financially backed by the same powerful families who are supporting the anti-Israel and antisemitic demonstrations at universities across the country.

Washington — A three-judge appeals court panel upheld the criminal conviction of former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon in a unanimous decision on Friday, ruling they found "no basis" to depart from binding legal precedent.

Bannon was found guilty in 2022 of two misdemeanor counts of contempt of Congress for not responding to a subpoena from the now-defunct House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. At the time, he maintained that he could not testify because of executive privilege concerns...

Racine, Wisconsin — Sheree Robinson was excited about being invited to ride in President Joe Biden's motorcade during his trip to Wisconsin Wednesday. The Black mother of two and longtime resident of Racine said education funding in Mr. Biden's American Rescue Plan enabled her to earn a HSED, a High School Equivalency Diploma.

"Our conversation was just so natural," she said of the president. "He definitely has my vote, and I will talk to everyone else and let them know he needs their vote, too."

Asked if she thought he'd win this November...
