As we head toward the summer and the National Party Conventions, it might be handy to have a thread focused on the upcoming matchup of current President Biden vs Former President Trump.
As of April 28,2024 , CNN's poll shows Trump leading. Yet polls are not always accurate and they are constantly changing.
Feel free to use this thread for all things relating to Biden vs Trump.

    It's my lunchtime.
I know it's hard to believe, but since I prefer to have friends and keep my friends, I do NOT talk about politics anywhere except here and with my wife at home. Listen...Many of my teacher friends are democrats but they are still my friends. We talk about school stuff and our family related stuff. My daughter is getting married Sat. May 18th, etc.
I am NOT discussing POLITICS at school....or in the supermarket....or anywhere.
I have never been on Truth Social or Reddit.
I DO participate in a NON political way on:
1)wdwmagic.com forums that FORBID political posts. They have many moderators who enforce that.
    2)www.tripadvisor.com
3)"The Everything Else" section of the Saints website
and 4) a photography based site called www.cameraderie.org
Steve, you don’t actually have to justify your answers in this way. Your opinion is your opinion and you don’t have to “prove” anything to anyone on here. You’ve been very consistent in your posting style on here. I have no reason to doubt what you say. I don’t agree with you, lol, but you do seem to be a straightforward poster.

Thank you for the good advice. Sometimes it's difficult for me not to explain myself but you are correct. Thanks again.

I have no dog in y'all fight, but I will say there are a lot of voters out there with SteveS view.

God help us all if Donald Trump is re-elected.

Sorry, in one breath you say you have no dog in the fight, in another you say above.....so, which is it? Wouldn't voting for Biden (despite his flaws) be a vote to keep us a democratic republic?

The no dog in the fight comment referred to the "small war" between La-La and SteveS. I wasn't trying to take side or get involved in their conflict.....just wanted to let La La know that there are a large number of people who like some of Trump's policies, but detest the man himself.

I don't think I've voted Democrat in a Presidential election in my life......but I'm also #Never Trump. Didn't like what I saw in 2016 and he's done nothing but prove my "gut feeling" ever since. In fact, I've turned into one of the most vocal Trump "haters" in my social circles. VERY few folks in my demographic are anti-Trump. I'll likely vote Libertarian for the 3rd election cycle in a row. Only because its Louisiana and Biden has no chance here. If my vote would swing the state or the national election, I would vote for Biden with fireworks popping and trumpets blaring.

It's only lately that I've really had a change of views with politics and some of my thought processes in that realm. To be honest, I no longer consider myself a Republican. I despise everything about the Party right now. But looking a little deeper, this is probably how the Party has been run even prior to Trump. Fear and hate and pitting Americans against each other. Trump just brought it all out in the open and fanned the flames.

I was also not very political before the MAGA movement. I voted often and spoke with friends and family about pressing political matters, but had a passive attitude for the most part. Now, I feel we are at an inflection point in history when I want to denounce the wrongs I see before me. I'm very anti-Trump/MAGA. And it ain't easy. So many well educated friends and family still support him. I just don't get it. It truly baffles my mind. I just don't see how you can discount some of the things that's gone on....especially January 6th and that whole mess. I can't understand how people do not see that incident as potentially fatal to our democracy. I just don't get it. Really.

You didn’t change. The GOP did. It’s awful.

This Twitter thread Seth describes as brief is the longest thread I've ever seen. About 85 or 90 tweets long.

There's information in it that I hadn't seen before so I suggest people bother. To open up the thread click on the tweet. The Twitter thing stops it every 30 tweets and one has to press "show more posts" for the next 30. That will have to be pressed twice to get through this hummer.

Obvious sarcasm in the last tweet. I don’t think we should pay any attention to the polls, it’s the elections that matter. It is an open primary, but the state Democratic Party made an effort to discourage democrats from voting in the R primary.

The R party no longer resembles what it was 20 years ago.....I voted R in my early 20's but the more I learned about the tax code, their economic policies and the subtle racism (back then) it turned me off....Became an independent for a bit then went D at some point in my late 20's......there is plenty I don't like about the D party but they are and have been, at least.....sane.....the separation of church and state is a big one for me, because I don't really believe that organized religion is a good thing....

I guess the difference between us is that I would vote for the same person regardless of what state I live in but I do understand your position.....

I also appreciate that you totally realize the Maga movement is dangerous and must be made insignificant.....and it also boggles my mind that some folks that I consider friends whom I know to be otherwise intelligent, caring, decent folks still support Trump, we very much have that in common.....nice post....

It's easy to see what Biden has done as opposed to what the media and a Democrats tell us Trump would do. Luckily we've already lived through a Trump presidency and the public isnt buying the Democrat sky is falling narrative.

When I see polls that say independents, i alwasy wonder how it is defined.

I suspect that a large number of MAGA self-identify as independent. Trump supporters aren't really fans of Republicans anymore.

At this point I think there are a whole lot of polls that are basically propaganda for the GOP. They’re so desperate to prop up their horrible candidate. 🤷‍♀️

If the election was held today, our nation which is experiencing really high gasoline prices right now would probably elect Trump. Today.
I know Biden doesn't have control over the gas prices but we remember the Keystone Pipeline shut down was Biden's fault.....and perception is more important to voters than facts.
Biden is the EV guy and Trump was the drill baby drill guy.
Gas was literally 2.90 today at my station.

It's easy to see what Biden has done as opposed to what the media and a Democrats tell us Trump would do.
This is exactly why Biden will be re-elected.

Oh, and it’s Trump and his people (not Democrats) telling us what he would do. But you probably don’t know that because you don’t get accurate news.

BTW, last month he promised a group of billionaires at a private event that he would give them more huge tax cuts, and he just this month asked oil executives to give him a billion dollars and he will roll back all the climate change restrictions. Naked pay to play corruption.

That's good. New Jersey has high state tax added and California is worse. In my town the cheapest gasoline is at Costco. Today's price was $3.35.
….thats literally not that bad for New Jersey. What are you even talking about?
