Trump says "I don't know, I'm not a lawyer" when asked if everyone is entitled to due process

President Trump said he doesn't know if everyone in the U.S., citizens or non-citizens, is entitled to due process — the constitutional command stated in both the Fifth and the Fourteenth Amendment.

"I don't know. I'm not, I'm not a lawyer. I don't know," Mr. Trump told NBC News' Kristen Welker on "Meet the Press" after she asked him whether he agreed that everyone on U.S. soil is entitled to due process in the court of law.

Last month, a federal judge and the U.S. Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia to the U.S., but Abrego Garcia remains in a detention facility in Santa Ana, El Salvador, after spending almost a month at the country's notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT). ...

The Trump administration is asking a federal judge in Texas to dismiss a case that aims to restrict access to the abortion drug mifepristone.

The request continues the Biden administration's position in defense of the drug: that Texas isn't the proper venue for the lawsuit.

In a Justice Department court filing, the Trump administration said Idaho, Missouri and Kansas have no ties to Texas, where the lawsuit was filed, arguing they lack standing in the suit against the Food and Drug Administration over its rules over the pills, which are available...

Washington — The Trump administration on Monday urged a federal district court to dismiss a lawsuit challenging the Food and Drug Administration's actions expanding access to the widely used abortion pill mifepristone.

Justice Department lawyers wrote in a filing with the U.S. district court in Amarillo, Texas, that the three states pursuing the lawsuit — Missouri, Idaho and Kansas — should not be able to do so in that court.
