Is there a trade deal with China? Is it really a deal or just a pull-back to status quo ante? Is Trump advancing US interests in this well-executed trade battle plan or was this poorly conceived from the start . . . and harmful?

I think the jury's still out, but I haven't seen that the Chinese are offering much in compromise - and it's not even clear if there's going to be an agreement. But it's clear they are working on something and I'm sure Trump will sell it as the greatest trade deal ever. The proof will be in the details.

Excuse me, Sir! That's America Mexicana to you! :hihi:

Well the EU should just move its imports to Canada instead

U.S. Census Bureau data indicate that U.S. exports of steel products to the EU have been valued at approximately $2–3 billion per year. U.S. exports of aluminum products to the EU have been valued between $500 million and $1 billion /year.

Voters Were Right About the Economy. The Data Was Wrong. Here’s why unemployment is higher, wages are lower and growth less robust than government statistics suggest.

The bottom line is that, for 20 years or more, including the months prior to the election, voter perception was more reflective of reality than the incumbent statistics. Our research revealed that the data collected by the various agencies is largely accurate. Moreover, the people staffing those agencies are talented and well-intentioned. But the filters used to compute the headline statistics are flawed. As a result, they paint a much rosier picture of reality than bears out on the ground.

The data has been wrong for multiple decades.

Economics is not science. It is philosophy.

If it doesn't go well, they'll either blame the Democrats or the other country.

    Correct .

This is why if everything crashes and burns, i dont think it’ll change much if anyhting .

The majority of Maga voters i know personally (and the ones ive heard from online) seemed like the main reason , besides omg owning the libs !!, the main reason they voted for Trump was to blow everything up and/or burn it to the ground.. sure would be nice to see some ownership from those same folks in 6 months or a couple years from now- like with everything else though im not holding my breath .. will be fascinating to see how ludicrous the mental gymnastics become to blame anyone but Trump and the conservatives & repubs .

New talking point for Republicans “national debt is causing the inflation” to justify what DOGE and president Elon are doing.

The talking point isnt for all Republicans- just the dumb ones who literally have no idea how economics work.

And that makes up 80% of his base support.

The other 20% know what this is really all about and are ok with because they agree on other things that are more important to them than a functioning government.
