WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump loves big numbers — and he’s always happy to talk them up.

Trump, who coined the phrase “truthful hyperbole” in his book “The Art of the Deal,” over the last few days has been steadily increasing the amount of money he says that countries in the Mideast pledged to invest in the U.S. when he visited the region last week. A majority of Americans believe flying is a mostly safe mode of transportation and rate the overall safety record of commercial airline travel positively.

People who say they never fly in a typical year — about half the public — are comparatively less likely to feel it is safe.

Overall, seven in 10 Americans feel flying is very or somewhat safe. Bigger majorities feel this way about trains, buses and driving, boosted in part by the views of "never" flyers who rate these...
