I thought there was already a topic about DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) but I could not find it in search.
Anyway, it seems one of the main goals for republicans is to destroy anything (even if only vaguely) DEI related

“Our values, particularly our values on diversity, remain unchanged, but another value that is pretty important to us is we always try to comply with what the law is,” he said. “There seems to be an evolution going on here. We’re following that very carefully. Obviously, when things get a little more settled, we’ll examine each of our programs and make sure that while the values remain the same that we’re also consistent with what the law requires.”……

What a chicken-shirt statement. What law is he talking about???

Is his actions even legal? Could a future FCC chair declare that Trump supporting business mergers would be illegal in the same way?
There are lawsuits filed and being filed to challenge these orders. I doubt the orders are legal, especially when applied to the private sector. It guess might be legal when applied exclusively to distinctly executive controlled offices and organizations.

The U.S. Naval Academy will not be forced to remove instructional materials and library books featuring “gender ideology” as it is not affected by orders to do so at schools overseen by the Department of Defense, the academy said in a statement.

Department of Defense Education Activity, which oversees 161 schools across 11 countries and educates more than 67,000 military-connected students, ordered its schools to relocate books that feature “gender ideology or discriminatory equity ideology” last month.........

    and DEI

We now live in a world where "Everyone is welcome here" is a divisive statement
    ====================================

The West Ada School District in Idaho has enforced a policy requiring “neutral” classroom content, sparking widespread controversy. Teacher Sarah Inama faced scrutiny after posting signs in her classroom stating, “Everyone is welcome here.” Inama initially obeyed orders to remove them but later reinstated the signs, arguing they reflect public education’s core values.

Inama noted that the district promotes similar diversity-focused messages. “They told me that they were in violation of district policy because, in today’s political environment, they’re considered a personal opinion,” she said.

Inama added, “I just feel like as a teacher … I would do anything to protect my students. I love all of them unconditionally.”

A three-judge panel from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals recently lifted an earlier injunction on President Donald Trump’s executive orders targeting DEI programs. The order has impacted schools across the nation, with many aiming to comply in hopes of avoiding investigation.

The panel acknowledged potential First Amendment concerns but stated that Judge Adam Abelson’s prior ruling against the orders was too broad and unclear..........

The US Naval Academy has changed its policy and will no longer consider race as a factor when evaluating candidates to attend the elite military school, a practice it maintained even after the US supreme court barred civilian colleges from employing similar affirmative action policies.

The Trump administration detailed the policy change in a filing on Friday asking a court to suspend an appeal lodged by a group opposed to affirmative action against a judge’s decision last year upholding the Annapolis, Maryland-based Naval Academy’s race-conscious admissions program.

Days after returning to office in January, Donald Trump signed an executive order, on 27 January, that eliminated diversity, equity and inclusion programs from the military.…

The University of Michigan has shuttered its flagship diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) program and closed its corresponding office, becoming the latest university to capitulate to Donald Trump’s anti-DEI demands.

The school launched the program in 2016, at the beginning of Trump’s first administration, and it became a model for other DEI initiatives across the country. In announcing the DEI strategic plan’s end, university leaders pointed to the success the program had.

“First-generation undergraduate students, for example, have increased 46% and undergraduate Pell recipients have increased by more than 32%, driven in part by impactful programs such as Go Blue Guarantee and Wolverine Pathways,” the statement said.

“The work to remove barriers to student success is inherently challenging, and our leadership has played a vital role in shaping inclusive excellence throughout higher education.”

Since the supreme court ended affirmative actionin 2023, programs geared towards diversity have been targeted by conservative groups. In an email on Thursday, the university of Michigan’s leadership referenced the enforcement of Trump’s anti-DEI executive orders, along with the threat to eliminate federal funding to colleges and universities that did not eliminate their DEI programs.

According to the statement, some at the university “have voiced frustration that they did not feel included in DEI initiatives and that the programming fell short in fostering connections among diverse groups”

In addition to closing the DEI office, the University of Michigan is also terminating the office for health equity and inclusion and discontinuing their “DEI 2.0 strategic plan” despite its success.

The closures comes after the school decided last year to no longer require diversity statements for faculty hiring, tenure or promotion.…….

Now he is telling foreign companies how to operate….

He is filled with so much hate that I can't understand how evangelicals see him as a devout Christian. His words and actions consistently promote anger and division—the complete opposite of the core values of Christianity.

He could never grasp a society like Denmark, where fathers take paternity leave and share household responsibilities for months, where over 30% of company executives are women, and where flaunting wealth makes you a social outcast. A place where even the prime minister hops on a bike to get to work—imagine that!

A government official has warned that ABC's broadcast license could be at risk as Disneyfaces an investigation into its alleged efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in hiring as the Trump administration continues its attempt to curb the practices.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr told Fox News that these practices at Disney, ABC’s parent company, could amount to discrimination.

“If the evidence does in fact play out and shows that they were engaged in race- and gender-based discrimination, that’s a very serious issue at the FCC, that could fundamentally go to their character qualifications to even hold a license,” Carr said in an interview on Monday.

“But we’re going to follow the facts wherever they go.”

Since returning to office, President Trump has issued sweeping executive orders to dismantle DEI policies in schools, federal agencies, and the private sector………

go for it. This would go nowhere, he'd lose face, and Disney can start pumping out anti-Trump propaganda a la PragerU

The issue of diversity, equity and inclusion programs is among the most tightly divided and polarizing questions in the United States at this time, with wide gaps emerging along partisan and racial lines, according to the latest national NBC News poll.

President Donald Trump has made dismantling DEI programs an early focus of his administration, and voters are split over the future of the programs in the workplace, with deep differences depending on their political party.

Half of registered voters (49%) in the NBC News pollsay DEI programs should be eliminated “because they create divisions and inefficiencies in the workplace by putting too much emphasis on race and other social factors over merit, skills and experience.”

And 48% say DEI programs in the workplace should continue “because diverse perspectives reflect our country, create innovative ideas and solutions, encourage unity and make our workplaces fair and inclusive.”

Asked to share whether they have positive or negative feelings about DEI programs, a slightly higher share of voters (43%) say they have negative feelings, while 39% have positive views and 14% are neutral. (The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.)

The divides over DEI are part of a broader cultural split.

In another question in the poll asking them to pick between two different statements, 51% of voters say there is “too much political correctness in our society today, and too much pressure on people to limit what they can do or say to avoid offending other people.”

Meanwhile, 45% say there is “too much prejudice in our society today and people need to be more respectful in what they do and say to avoid offending other people.” ……..

Beneath the surface of the overall division in the electorate are wide gaps depending on voters’ party affiliation and race.

Fully 80% of Republicans believe there is too much political correctness, while 77% of Democrats say there is too much prejudice.

Independents are split, with 46% saying there is too much political correctness and 43% saying there is too much prejudice.

An overwhelming share of Republicans (85%) believe DEI programs should be eliminated, while the same share of Democrats believe they should continue.

More independents side with Democrats on that question, with 59% saying DEI programs should continue and 39% saying they should be eliminated.

And while younger people were more likely to support DEI programs than older respondents, the issue highlights another example of a wide gender gap among younger voters on politics in the Trump era.

Among women ages 18 to 49, 67% say DEI programs should continue, while 31% want to eliminate them. But among men ages 18 to 49, 40% want to continue DEI programs, while 57% say they should be eliminated.

More older women support DEI programs than older men, but the gap between them is not as large.

“The survey also points to there being more political intensity and salience for Republicans around these issues than there is for Democrats,” Cardona-Arroyo said, noting the overwhelmingly negative views of DEI programs from voters who make up Trump’s base, including white men without a college education, self-described MAGA Republicans and self-described conservatives……..

This implies that when a Democrat wins the presidency, he'll install DEI programs, and vice versa. The question is will presidents continue to have the right to punish people who institute legal programs initiated by the president, like Trump is doing? If Trump continues to get away with this, I expect all of the people that were involved in dismantling DEI to also be fired, as well as other programs, like the deportations without due process. The Executive Branch will become a mess, and far more inefficient as administration changes lead to overturning vast numbers of civil servants, which is the goal of Republicans, until the Federal government is inept. It will lead to more corruption, and weakening of the country. Sorry for the tangent. MAWA.
