Is there a trade deal with China? Is it really a deal or just a pull-back to status quo ante? Is Trump advancing US interests in this well-executed trade battle plan or was this poorly conceived from the start . . . and harmful?

I think the jury's still out, but I haven't seen that the Chinese are offering much in compromise - and it's not even clear if there's going to be an agreement. But it's clear they are working on something and I'm sure Trump will sell it as the greatest trade deal ever. The proof will be in the details.

Trump announcing a trade deal with the UK. Have to see what the details are, but both countries are desperate for what ultimately boils down to the same reason: they've both done very stupid things (tariffs/Brexit) which are supposedly justified by resulting in amazing new trade deals which have so far been largely noticeable by their absence.

Trump is going to announce a trade deal with the UK. Wow, what a tremendous breakthrough for the master deal maker.

    What’s that you say?

The U.S ran an $11B trade SURPLUS with the UK in 2024? What tremendously difficult negotiations that must have been. Bravo, Donnie.

Yeah, it doesn't really have any "fit" within Trump's tariff-based trade program.

The winners and losers of Trump’s first tariff warstrongly suggest that bankruptcies and farm consolidation could surge during his second term, with major corporations best placed to benefit from his polices at the expense of independent farmers.

New analysis by the non-profit research advocacy group Food and Water Watch (FWW), shared exclusively with the Guardian, shows that Trump’s first-term tariffs were particularly devastating for farmers in the Maga rural heartlands.

Farm bankruptcies surged by 24% from 2018 to 2019 – the highest number in almost a decade – as retaliatory tariffs cost US farmers a staggering $27bn.……

    This is so stupid

What's also maddeningly stupid is that a large segment of the working class continues to believe that he cares, even a little bit, about our well-being.

here is the clip- now he tosses $1.1T in deficit with China because " thats what it is in his opinion- not the $500B or $1T as others have said "

He just added $100B to number ...it's insane

And a good amount of people are simply "ok" with this.
