It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

Well, he says he isn’t. Yet he supports the GOP, so to me there is no discernible difference there.
I see a discernible difference. However I realize the height of the tides vary from place to place. There are way too few Joes, and way too many MAGA's.

Once again, Joe’s voting allows MAGA to do what they do. That’s indisputable. 🤷‍♀️

I don't know how Joe votes, I don't make it a habit to ask that question. I suppose that I was grounded in that when I was a kid.

Never ask anyone who they voted for was the code of the west where i grew up so to speak.

He has indicated he voted for the GOP in the last election, except for Trump. At least that is my memory.

As the opening of Florida’s ‘Alligator Alcatraz’is imminent, other states with Republican leadership have been in touch with the White House about opening similar facilities, according to a new report.

Last week, Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina tweeted a desperate plea to the Department of Homeland Security for an ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ in her state.

“Dear DHS: We’ve got a swamp and a dream. Let’s talk. South Carolina's gators are ready. And they’re not big on paperwork. If I was Governor, we'd be bringing Alligator Alcatraz to South Carolina,” she wrote.

In the wake of that message, a Fox News surveyfound that a handful of the 26 states with Republican governors have plans for a similar migrant prison camp in their states.………

I saw this story somewhere else. Apparently she had already been deported, then of course she came back to be with her family.

At this point they might be planning to charge her with a felony and criminally prosecute her as an example of their inhumanity.

And, in a surprise to no one, DOJ lawyers have been lying to the courts all this time.

Now, will the Courts sanction those DoJ lawyers that argued the case that the US did not have jurisdiction over those incarcerated in El Salvador?

I'm sure worried about that. As it stands at this moment it does appear to headed that way.

I hope for a backlash which swings us back to the left as fast as we swung to the right.
There will be no sustained backlash. Fixing this is going to be hard and take patience. But, guess what. Americans are lazy intellectually and in overall spirit and way too self absorbed to show the patience for what will be needed. You might get two years of the House swinging back, but no way any positive change is sustainable without a truly unifying event that can snap people out of their stupid stupor.

This administration has caused me to hate the federal government even more and I didn't think that was possible.

I think this is periodic event cycle we go through about ever hundred years and this one is matching up to the last cycle almomost exactly at 100 years.

Read this about Colorado history that Gemini wiped out for me in an jiffy: The search string I used was: what year did the kkk take over colorado The KKK took over large parts of the US during the 1920's, but in Colorado there was one two year period they had control of the state legislature, and senate.

I worry that this time might be different because it does seem that they are more organized than previous cycles I've looked into. I've the theory that the war of 1812 is tied in that 100 year cycle. Here's Gemini's report:

The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) did not formally "take over" Colorado in a single year, but rather exerted significant influence and power in the state during the 1920s, particularly around 1924 and 1925.
Here's how they gained power:
  • Establishment and Rise to Prominence: The Colorado KKK was established in 1922 under the leadership of Grand Dragon John Galen Locke. By the mid-1920s, they had gained control of important government offices.
  • Political Dominance:The KKK gained control of the Republican Party and selected most of its candidates during the 1924 elections, leading to significant success. This resulted in Klansmen holding key positions such as:
    • Governor Clarence Morley (elected in 1924 and took office in January 1925), according to the Colorado Virtual Library he never made a political decision without consulting Locke.
    • Denver Mayor Ben Stapleton (elected in 1923 and defeated a recall election in 1924).
    • Denver police chief William Candlish.
    • A majority in both the state House and Senate.
    • A Supreme Court Judgeship and seven seats on the Denver District Courts.
  • Exploiting Prejudice and "100% Americanism": The KKK achieved this power by leveraging existing ethnic and religious divisions and promoting a message of "100% Americanism". While targeting multiple groups, their focus in Colorado was particularly directed towards Catholics, Jews, and immigrants.
  • Decline: The KKK's influence eventually diminished due to factors such as internal corruption, dissension, and the jailing of Grand Dragon Locke in 1925. Locke's failed legislative agenda also contributed to the Klan's decline.

There's really good documentary video I've seen before about this. I've shown this video to my colorado relatives, they, as I experienced knew nothing about it, It was like after it happened no one talked about it, not anywhere. When I found out about it I stumbled across a book closet in an old two room schoolhouse, and found the local klaven's old meeting ceremonial stuff they had stored in the school, amoung that stuff was a photo of the Colorado state legislature 1924. One of my great uncles was standing there, their names were on the back of the very carefully framed photo. It was an odd thing in that it was about two feet wide, but only 10 inches from top to bottom. There were also flag rolled up on poles and wooden disks with holes to stick the flag sticks into so they would stand on the school stage.
