It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

Actually, they did NOT come here illegally, and I dare you to prove that nonsense.

Clearly you are substituting your thoughts for my words and pretending they are mine. I see no point in yakking about legal American citizens any more than I see a point in removing "dreamers'.

From what I've read, they both worked here illegally early on and almost certainly overstayed their visas, which is how a lot of illegal immigrants end up staying here. As long as you treat others the same...yeah.

Like I said, I will believe what you can actually PROVE. Anywho, they are now American citizens and will not be deported no matter who is President. If The Deporter-in-Chief didn't have them deported doubtful anyone else will ever even try.

What about it makes it cheaper to hire immigrants vs domestic workers?
Nothing I know of, but it seems to be an oft-repeated mantra about how if we don't allow people in, the price of fruits and veggies will skyrocket. People with little will often work for less than someone who is eligible for benefits in the USA.

Musk’s brother admitted they were both here illegally. Is that good enough for you? They came on student visas and never actually went to school. Melania was here on a tourist visa and worked illegally. That has been known for decades. She had been struggling with her status until she hooked up with a married man, who greased the wheels for her. She ended up marrying him.

They became citizens through influence, not by means that are available to ordinary people.

I know Trump won’t deport them, he wouldn’t deport anyone like them either. He’s very selective about who he wants to deport. People who overstay their visas are just evidently not breaking the law like the people who come in other ways in his eyes.

Here’s a WaPo article exploring how Musk violated his visa terms and was here illegally. The interview where his brother admits they were both here illegally was from 2013, I think.

If they came across the southern border, why can’t we send em back that way?
Because Mexico is a sovereign country and we need their cooperation?

Because a lot of the people aren’t Mexican, so why would Mexico take them? Seems kinda hypocritical to expect Mexico to take people we don’t want who aren’t from Mexico, doesn’t it?

Are you suggesting marching people down to the border at gunpoint and forcing them to illegally enter Mexico? Seems extremely hypocritical. I was taught two wrongs don’t make a right.

Of course it helps to think of them as real people, the vast majority of which we would be lucky to keep and provide a path to citizenship. We have a labor shortage - we need workers.

Feel free to inform immigration authorities of your very grave concerns about people already granted US citizenship. You may make a real difference!

You can be flippant about the massive hypocrisy. That says a whole lot about you. A minute ago you demanded proof - when shown it, you just dodge. Do you ever get tired of being just plain wrong?

What hypocrisy?
I have repeatedly said I want illegal aliens deported. Musk and Melania are not illegal aliens. Don't you know the difference?

Do you want dreamers deported as half as bad as you want Musk and Melania deported?

I don’t want anyone deported - never said I did. Look - this isn’t hard to figure out - people who are championing mass deportations were once here illegally themselves. The hypocrisy makes me sick. It evidently amuses you. That’s how we differ.

I haven't heard Melania or Musk talking about it. What did they say in support of mass deportations?

This has to be trolling. Musk is definitely championing mass deportations. It’s in the very beginning of the article I posted.

Melania supports her husband. Trump knew she was here illegally because he helped her get citizenship. It’s his hypocrisy I’m talking about.

Except they were at one point. Either everyone is equal in the eyes of the law or they aren't. You don't get to pick and choose who's subject to it unless you Donald Trump, to whom the law doesn't apply at all according to SCOTUS.

But now they aren't.

The LAW says they are US citizens.

I didn't pick anything, Whatever gave you that impression? And if you are naive or ignorant enough to believe that SCOTUS ruled no laws apply to a President, please go read something about it.

I am aware of that program. What about it makes it cheaper to hire immigrants vs domestic workers?

Wages, liability costs, availability, administration costs, mobility, not breaking any laws/fines....

There's a number of agencies in MX that bring workers into the U.S. to do all sorts of labor: landscaping, construction, agriculture, etc. through H-2. U.S. companies normally just have to pay the contract fee, and the agency takes care of everything else.

For the workers, even the low wages by U.S. standards are better than what they could make back in MX. This is a very basic example: the average minimum wage in MX is about $200 pesos a day... if you pay a worker, say, $10 an hour, that's ~ $200 pesos an hour.

A few years ago (pre-pandemic) I read about this particular group of agricultural workers who started in California and zig-zagged their way all the way to Washington State.
