    Prosecution begins opening statements

Opening statements in the case are now underway, the prosecution is up first.

This case is about a "criminal conspiracy and a cover up," assistant district attorney Matthew Colangelo begins.

The prosecution's opening arguments make it plain that they are trying to argue that Trump interfered with the 2016 presidential election by orchestrating a scheme to conceal his sexual encounters with Stormy Daniels.

Colangelo tells the jury that Trump, Michael Cohen and David Pecker met ahead of the election to devise a plan whereby Pecker would act as the "eyes and ears" of the campaign to gather information that could be harmful to Trump's campaign and relay it to Cohen.

At the time, Pecker was chairman and CEO of American Media Inc. (AMI), the then publisher of the National Enquirer.

The trio agreed that AMI would publish flattering stories about Trump and attack Trump's political opponents in others, the prosecution argues.
Couldn't the defense argue for that argument to carry any weight the National Inquirer would have to be considered a trusted source for political news?

Not really. The whole idea was to catch it kill it at the National Inquirer gossip level before it spread to more mainstream news sources.

Trump continues to bang the drum of presidential immunity which he apparently thinks covers any and all crimes a president may have committed ever.

The link is there, but not usable. Here's the same link in a usable form:

At the moment there are no transcripts posted there, (yet). I expect they will post them a day or so delayed.

one little thing this farting idiot missed is this happened before he was president. but I guess is it retroactive back to when he was born.

Just now read this. That’s damning - Daniels’ lawyer sure thought they helped elect Trump by suppressing the story.

Just in time for the gag order hearing tomorrow.

    Better tweet with the audio:

Won't be included in tomorrow's hearing l. That is for the motion filed last week. Prosecutors would have to file a new motion.

Here is what I just heard. The judge will rule tomorrow. So we will hear verdict. However he can find Trump in contempt but hold off on the sentence until end of trial. In NY penalty is up to $1000 and or 30 days in jail.
He faces 10 charges. So Judge may find contempt, yet hold penalty to see how he behaves thru rest of trial.

If he continues to do this, he could be facing jail time AFTER the trial which could equate to over 300 days in jail.

A retired judge think this is best course of action to avoid jailing him and delaying trial (and him jinning up his base).

but 5 seconds later he would be filing and appeal.

With tears in his eyes, Trump's attorney gave the greatest opening statement in history, nobody has ever seen anything like it. Judge Merchan instantly dismissed the charges, declaring Trump king of Earth

Jesse Watters Says Making Trump Sit In Court Is 'Cruel And Unusual Punishment'

Fox News host Jesse Watters apparently thinks it’s unfair for former President Donald Trump to have to attend his criminal trial.
Monday marked the start of the second week of Trump’s hush-money trial in Manhattan, with opening arguments beginning after a jury was seated last week, and Watters lamented that Trump’s being treated worse than prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.
