This is my representative for my district. How embarrassing. I actually have to live with the people who voted for this clown.

I live in South Dakota and it has been a newsworthy couple of days here.

Governor Noem has been nominated to head Homeland Security.

Senator Thune was voted Senate Majority Leader. Tom Daschle held that post about 20 years ago when all three of our federal reps were (D)s.

The next couple of years are going to be interesting.

Also, for those naive enough to believe that the "institutions will hold", there are no institutions anymore. This man is a good representation of both the Legislative and Judicial branches of government. There is only a sick twisted slaveish devotion to the cult leader.

Really? They haven’t turned against him yet, but I would say that’s our only hope.

Yeah, I understand anybody wanting to cling to some hope, but Republicans haven't demonstrated any coordinated, meaningful opposition to Trump. Now that they have all of the keys to the kingdom, I'm not sure why we should expect they will change course.

But, sure, I want to find some hope, too. Right now, it is all looking as bad as could be imagined. These aren't just absurd choices, they are dangerous, and foreshadow a loyalist administration that will put Trump above country. I believe this is the moment in our history that Republicans have been working towards; cementing their grasp on power at any cost.

Yeah, I think there's a chance that there are still some adults in the room at the Senate - and Thune being chosen as majority leader may be a signal (it's anonymous voting) that it's not going to be purely deferential. I think there's a tradition of deference but some of these are very unserious nominations for very serious positions.

At least with respect to Gaetz and Hegseth, there may be some meaningful unwillingness at the Senate. And still quite a few cabinet posts left to name.

Gabbard is essentially a Russian asset.

It’s going to be interesting. Trump just had a solid win and a cult backing but he’s also a 78 year old lame duck president.
