Surely to be a clown show. We know that RFK certainly thinks he’s getting nominated for HHS, which includes FDA.

The Gaetz nomination has a few reasons IMO... None of which include him actually being AG when this is all over... By resigning now, he avoids being accountable to the Ethics Committee - they have no oversight now, and that goes away.... No one is looking at these other appointments with a microscope right now, because their heads are exploding from the Gaetz pick (smoke screen).... Gaetz can continue his political career elsewhere without the committee finds going public... This also gives time for Florida to replace him in Congress before inauguration day.

No way does he become AG... and No way was that the plan....

The Roberts opinion from 2010 about what "officer" means for an entirely different purpose and that predates decisions by US District Court in Maryland and the Second Circuit by eight and nine years, respectively? I guess Trump's lawyers just must have missed that argument. Maybe you can file an amicus brief next time to make sure no one forgets about an allegedly controlling SCOTUS opinion from the chief justice in 2010.

I don't disagree that it may be right that the president is not within the meaning of "office" for the foreign emoluments clause - though it is a bit nonsensical - there's no dispute that the president is within the scope of the domestic emoluments, it expressly applies to him.

Why again are we doing this? Is this anticipatory on your part?

I'm not understanding the move by Gaetz

I get that it's a House investigation but if the evidence says he's not fit to be a representative but perfectly okay to be Attorney General of the United States? Or even to run for Governor of Florida in 2 years like someone speculated?
