Should there be some sort of consequence to lying your arse off in your confirmation hearing?

    “Will you shut down XYZ?”

Nominee: “Absolutely not. No way, no how. XYZ is a vital organization providing vital services. I love XYZ and look forward to overseeing such a proud program. XYZ is safe.”

Two weeks later: “I’m announcing the dissolution of XYZ”

Leaders in the FBI are reportedly pushing to move one of the bureau’s training programs from its headquarters in Quantico, Virginia, to Huntsville, Alabama, as part of President Donald Trump’s desire to move federal agencies out of the Washington D.C. area.

Dan Bongino, the FBI deputy director, has preliminarily proposed moving the FBI National Academy, a 10-week training academy for 250 domestic and international law enforcement officers, to Huntsville, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday.…..

So, they're trying to move "Space" Force HQ from Colorado (home of Cheyanne Mt) and the FBI training from Quantico to Huntsville. Mind you, Quantico, VA is literally a military city that is home to multiple DoD facilities and has a civilian population of 600, Huntsville, AL has 240K. DUMB.

I bet they haven't even thought about the ancillary cost of making such a move. Travel will kill their budget. This is as inefficient as it is dumb.

It’s actually gonna cost the government a ton more to move than to stay put. There’s exactly zero wrong with Quantico as a location. It’s already essentially a military base and area that is “paid” for. And everything they need for training. And location matters. I’m not seeing any point to this at all. Not to mention forcing employees to relocate to a town they never would otherwise live in. I guess this is what you get with dumbasses are running things.

And yeah, DJ1 beat me to it, but I had this all typed up yesterday and didn’t hit send, lol.

“Part of a 21st Century Workforce Strategy
Since 1971, with the establishment of the Hazardous Devices School (HDS) and followed by the development of the Terrorist Devices Analytic Center (TEDAC), FBI Redstone has grown from its original role as the FBI Explosives Center of Excellence. With rapidly changing 21st century threats, FBI Redstone has become a focused growth area for training, data analytics, and cyber intelligence.
In 2016, the FBI committed to strategically realigning personnel outside the National Capital Region as part of a new 21st Century Workforce Strategy. This realignment enhances mission resiliency and continuity of operations. It also creates a stronger posture and flexibility to support an evolving FBI mission.
Redstone Arsenal has provided the FBI with almost 1,600 acres of secure land near other government agencies, including the ATF, NASA, Army Materiel Command, Missile Defense Agency, Redstone Test Center, and Defense Acquisition University, among others.
The FBI is building two campuses that will bring various FBI assets together on Redstone Arsenal and will address tactical and specialized training requirements. Every day, FBI personnel at Redstone conduct forensic analysis in a lab environment, sort through data for critical investigations, or monitor networks for cyber attacks. FBI personnel at Redstone are at the center of the agency’s technology, data analytics, and cyber missions.
Other entities on the Arsenal that support the overall FBI mission include the interim Tennessee Valley Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory (TVRCFL) and the National Defense Cyber Alliance (NDCA). The TVRCFL is one of 17 laboratories in the country serving as a full-service digital forensics laboratory and training center dedicated entirely to the examination of digital evidence. Our partnership with the NDCA will improve national security by protecting our sensitive networks through collaborative strategies and information sharing between the cleared defense contractor community and the U.S. government. ”

    FBI's Presence at Redstone Arsenal:
    • The FBI has been at Redstone Arsenal for over 50 years.

    • The FBI has a large presence at Redstone Arsenal, with over 1,000 employees.

    • Redstone Arsenal is a key part of the FBI's plans for the future, as it serves as a hub for technology, innovation, and advanced training.

    • The FBI is building two campuses at Redstone, one for tactical training and another for specialized training.

    • The FBI is developing an "Innovation Center" at Redstone, which will house training facilities, cyber threat intelligence, and digital forensics.

    • The FBI is also working on a "Graduate School for Cyber Crime Fighters" at Redstone”
Might simply be a practical organizational and strategic move.

Redstone Arsenal is an Army Base that do house other Federal Agencies including the FBI. The training conducted at that location is predominantly explosive training, which makes sense because it's an arsenal base. It is an inefficient use of tax payers dollars to stand-up another training facility there when Quantico is more than capable of accomplishing its task.

Keep in mind that the training facilities at Quantico service multiple Federal Agencies Agent training. Remember that I mentioned the ancillary cost of such a move? Those cost re not just monetary, the FBI will lose out on the resources available to them at Quantico. Those resources include the academies of the investigations services of the Army, Navy, DEA. They will also lose out on access to USMC University and the ability to conduct joint training exercises with their partners.

Their mentioning of the 1600 acres of available space is laughable compared to the space at Quantico. Redstone Arsenal is located in the wetlands of Huntsville and the entire facility covers 7.8 sq. miles, Quantico covers 86 sq. miles.

All they are talking about is a single training program, the FBI National Academy, they conduct with outside law enforcement. Doubt they need all the resources mentioned. Might be beneficial to free up facilities and resources at Quantico.

Trying to minimize the effects of such a move by describing it as a "single training program" doesn't change the enormity of this proposed move.

I guess that would clear the way for a secret police force build-up. :idunno:
