Biden has lost support from many people who voted for him in the past.
He is getting up there in age.
Here are a couple of sites I'd like to share...

WHAT DO ANY OF YOU THINK?
IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BEST SERVED BY HAVING PRESIDENT BIDEN RUN FOR ANOTHER TERM OR WOULD A DIFFERENT CANDIDATE BE BETTER?

    then there is this...

Be aware that some of those polls are "doctored". Several have already been exposed as be created "to order"

My husband worked at the Danish statistical Bureau for 30+ years and as he said - he can create a poll with whatever result that the person ordering wants it to be.
Like any news source you need to look behind the numbers. I remember one poll saying that 79 % of democrats felt that Biden had done a fair or poor job.
The actual numbers if you looked behind the headline was 15% poor, 64 % fair and 21% good. The headline was correct but not showing the true story

Very interesting post by you. Thank you.
Setting all your great stuff to the side for a moment...
James Carville is a very familiar figure in Democratic Politics.
He has the best interests of the Democratic Party in mind.
His thoughts are worthy of consideration.

I'd vote for any/all of those over Trump in a heartbeat. And I'd vote for them over Biden. And despite the venom many have for AOC, I like that she's actually pretty intelligent and puts a lot of thought into her positions.

Governor Whitmer I'd be good with. The other 3 don't get me excited at all and hope they're not the choice.

I'm pessimistic and thinking Biden will unfortunately be on the ballot in Nov. 2024....yet, for the sake of conversation, who would you add to this article's list of 5?

Biden is running for president and will be the Democrat"s nominee. All of the consternation and polling isn't going to change that.

Trump will be the Republican nominee. Republican primary voters have made that clear. I will easily vote for Biden. If American voters elect Trump, the country will receive exactly what it deserves.

Why do you care? You've already said you wouldn't vote for any other Democrat.

I think you're worried that he's the only Democrat that can actually beat Trump.

Lighten up man. He can ask questions like everyone else here. It's a reasonable question and discussion.
I’m just wondering why he’s “pessimistic” that Biden is going to be on the ballot. Since he’s already said he’s not voting for any other Democrat and will only vote third party, I don’t understand his pessimism.

But the tone of my question was not intended to be aggressive. I am legitimately curious why he is “pessimistic” that Biden will be on the ballot.

It’s the raison d’etre for this thread.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but his pessimism is tied to him wishing Biden wouldn't be on the ballot. He's not pessimistic that Biden will be on the ballot. Opposite.

Personally, I don't like Biden for another term. If Biden were 10 years younger I wouldn't think twice about him being the candidate, but at his age and he's been looking every bit of it lately, I'm concerned it's gonna be a ringing gong by the time the conventions roll around.

Frankly, Trump is really showing his age as well. It's a key reason why more and more people are checking out of this matchup. I've seen polls out there showing clearly that plenty from both parties don't have an appetite for a re-run of 2020.

Yea, that’s what I meant if I was unclear. He’s pessimistic because he wishes Biden wouldn’t be on the ballot. But there’s only one logical context where that makes sense.

He’s already said he’s not voting for any other Democrat, so it’s not that he wants an alternative Democrat to win.

Any Democrat is going to beat his third party candidate, so it doesn’t make sense that he’s pessimistic because it means his chosen third party candidate will lose to Biden, since his third party candidate would lose to any Democrat.

The only context that I can see where it makes sense for him to be pessimistic that Biden is on the ballot is that he believes Biden will beat the Republican nominee.

And the Republican nominee will be Trump.

No, you are so off base.
I often post things because I take my responsibility of being a thread's OP seriously.
Think of it as being a good host ;)

My use of the word "pessimistic" was because I was tempted to be encouraged that 5 younger democrats were being discussed. Yet I quickly snapped out of it and told myself that it is highly unlikely Biden will step aside.
I am not concerned about Biden beating Trump or Trump beating Biden.
I do not want either of them.

    So I guess here’s where I’m confused.

As I said before, you’ve already said you aren’t voting for any of the democrats, regardless.

So is this just a situation where you think Biden is too old/senile/etc to lead effectively?

If that’s the case, then why would you want a more effective Democrat running? Doesn’t Biden running make it more likely that your chosen candidate will win?

But do you see any difference between the two? Or do you believe both are equally bad? (I’m not trying to be difficult, I realize that you live in a safely blue state, so your 3rd party vote won’t matter. Although, I think it’s very possible No Labels won’t even try to send up a candidate in NJ.)

Just curious about your thoughts comparing the two.

On this point, it's precisely why I'm voting Biden if those are the 2 choices. In no universe are they equally bad. It's not close, at all. I absolutely want a better choice than either of them, but the parties have their heads so far up their arses they can't see what they're doing. It's beyond frustrating, but what can I do?

And this is a logical position.

WHO is my chosen candidate? You are so funny! I WISH I had a candidate.
I thought I wanted DeSantis back in 2022 and maybe bleeding a bit into 2023. Certainly a year ago I was posting positive thoughts about him.
What a difference a year makes.
I don't know who I will vote for.
I only know who I WON'T vote for.
I won't vote for Trump and I won't vote for Biden.
    .

    WHO is my chosen candidate?
The third party candidate, of course.

So again, I’ll ask: why would you want a more effective Democrat running, since that lowers the chances your chosen candidate will win?

Or have you changed your mind? Is there a Democrat you would vote for after all?
