You are welcome to YOUR talking point. Doesn’t mean it is anywhere close to the truth.

I would like you to clarify something so I can understand your point better. Are you saying that because a person doesn't support authoritarianism, this person can now vote for someone who does support it and not bear any responsibility?

I am saying that I haven’t voted for anyone who advocates for authoritarianism. I am saying that is just a talking point. A tired worn out talking point.
It isn’t persuasive. It hasn’t worked. And yet you continue to trot it out over and over.

Not every conservative and or anyone who disagrees with you politically is out to end democracy.

Ok, so if a congressperson silently supports authoritarianism through their votes and makes statements praising an authoritarian without directly saying, "I'm Senator John Smith and I support authoritarianism," would you consider that person to be a supporter of authoritarianism?

Depends on the person. Depends on the context. I repeat, I do not believe anyone I have voted for is seeking the end of Democracy.

I have repeated that statement 4 or 5 times. Very clearly. So if you still don’t get it, that is your problem. Not mine.

Again. We disagree. It is not well reasoned. It is an overused talking point that goes back to his first term. It didn’t work then. It didn’t work in the last election and it is failing once again here. Everybody who disagrees with you isn’t out to end democracy.

    It's not a disagreement, you're just wrong.

No, the problem here is that you think your belief is the same as reality, when that isn't necessarily true. Your profile says you are from Florida, which means you likely voted for Rick Scott. I showed you an article that said Rick Scott is one of Trump's biggest advocates/supporters in the Senate.

"The White House is increasingly relying on Scott to help press Trump's agenda in the Senate and broker meetings between administration officials and key Republicans, according to senior White House officials.

"Scott's our man in the Senate," one of those officials said."

Do you think that Trump's plans are authoritarian? Do you think Rick Scott is working to enact Trump's plans?

If so, a vote for Rick Scott is a vote that supports authoritarianism. It's really that simple, Joe.

Everybody who disagrees with you isn’t out to end democracy.

And everyone you vote for who supports Trump just might be lying when they say they really aren't fascists/authoritarians.....also, they want you to stop calling them that.....

You are welcome to think what you want. That doesn’t mean it is the truth. That doesn’t mean it’s reality. Do I think Rick Scott wants to do away with Democracy? No. Do I think Rick Scott suppprts the GOP agenda? Yes. Do I think the GOP wants to do away with Democracy? No.

Now you may differ with me on these questions. That’s okay. Your opinion and you are welcome to it. It doesn’t mean it is the truth. It doesn’t mean it is reality.

The problem here is that you think your belief is reality when that isn’t necessarily the truth. You should live by those words instead of repeating them as if it means anything to you.

Fine, then let's do something educational. Do you agree with the statement, "Donald Trump is the head of the GOP"?

He is the President. At present he leads the GOP.

    Fantastic. You said:

If I make a short list of all of the authoritarian things done by Trump, can you tell me if my perception of authoritarianism is right?

In my opinion, I don’t believe Rick Scott or the GOP for that matter is seeking to do away with Democracy in favor of an authoritarian form of government. I don’t know what is on Donald Trumps mind. I didn’t vote for him. When it comes to this particular issue, I believe the GOP and most conservatives I know are pro democracy. You are certainly welcome to disagree.

I am asking you to engage in a discussion on those beliefs, because if you believe that elected GOP officials like Rick Scott are pro-democracy, and I believe they are supporting authoritarianism, clearly one of us holds a demonstrably false opinion. I am willing to examine my beliefs. Are you?

i accept your beliefs are your beliefs. I don’t see any point on a day long debate on whether Rick Scott is supportive of dismantling democracy in favor of an authoritarian form of government. If that is how you see things, then don’t vote for him or the GOP. I’m not trying to convince you otherwise. That’s up to you.

But as you pointed out, other people don’t see it that way. Why is it you cannot accept that?

Conservatives don’t want more government. They certainly don’t want a dictator or a king. To suggest otherwise is simply not reality IMO.

Both parties seek to advance their agenda and both parties can be heavy handed politically in doing so. It’s all about political power and politics. That is how this game is played in DC. That doesn’t mean democracy is threatened.
