That's funny. I personally would have gone with Disturbed's Down with the Sickness, but that was really funny.

What I never could understand is why the holy ghost never speaks the same language twice. What's the point of speaking through people if no one can ever understand what you're trying to say to them?

Basically, because in one of the letters to the Corinthians attributed to Paul says that some will have the gift of speaking in tongues and some interpreting tongues.

I hadn't consider it in those practical terms. It makes more sense if "tongues" is an actual consistent language. What little I've heard of people speaking tongues sounds like made up gibberish. Though I will say that the Portuguese that my friends from Brazil speak often sounds like gibberish too.

Oh, no doubt most of it is gibberish. I would also say there are definitely some cases where I believe it’s legitimate. Just not as commonplace as some would like us to think.

Like Bird says, it comes from 1 Corinthians 14, which also states that if there isn’t a prophet that can interpret it then it effectively is just gibberish. To me it just comes off as overstimulated zealots engaging in a kind of personal baby talk.
