So you didn't vote for either of the GOP senators from Florida?
I don’t think either of those Senators is for pro authoritarianism. Haven’t heard either one stumping for that. As I said I get that’s is your talking point. It’s kinda like GOP extremist who claim everyone who claim everyone who disagrees with them politically is a socialist or communist. Same thing. Just as stupid.

Trump is an authoritarian, attempting to consolidate power for himself. Any elected official who supports him is supporting authoritarianism. Anyone who voted for one of those elected officials is supporting someone who supports authoritarianism.

Rick Scott supports Trump's attempts. This makes Rick Scott a supporter of authoritarianism.

I am a conservative so I vote for conservatives. But I am not impressed by either party. If there was a viable conservative option that belonged to neither party I would gladly vote for them.

You vote for conservatives, like Rick Scott. That makes you a supporter of authoritarianism.

As I said I get that is your talking point. You are welcome to it. I haven’t heard any of the people I have voted for express a desire to do away with democracy in favor of an authoritarian regime. Not one.

This is a good piece.

So for Joe - you cannot support the GOP any longer without also supporting Trump. Ever since Trump won in 2016, extremists have flooded into the GOP. GOP mainliners either support extremism, or they are sidelined and ostracized. They have been forced to abandon conservative principles, they have been forced to abandon ethics and morality.

So as long as anyone supports the current GOP, they are supporting Trump and all the extremism he is enabling. All the corruption, all the self-dealing, and all the unethical behavior. All the law-breaking, and all unconstitutional actions and attempted actions. You own all of it.

I don’t vote for people I don’t support. I didn’t vote for Trump. I am a conservative so I tend to vote conservative. I am not a Republican or a Democrat. As I said, I am not much impressed by either party. IMO they have failed this country when it comes to selecting Presidential candidates.

I get the needle you’re trying to thread.

What you seem to be ignoring is that there are no conservatives left in the GOP. In order to keep their positions they have all had to pledge allegiance to Trump.

Shortly after Trump was elected the first time, this became obvious. It was at that point that I determined I could never support any member of the GOP.

If you vote for any GOP candidates in congressional elections, you are supporting Trump.

I get the needle YOU are trying to thread. Trump is not a king. He is the temporary occupant of the Oval Office. After he leaves, there will still be Democrats and Republicans and Independents and we will continue to have regular elections in this country. Hopefully both parties will do a better job in nominating candidates.

I decide who and what I support. Not you. I haven’t voted in. A presidential election since Obama / Romney. My conservative friends tell me that if I don’t vote then I am supporting Biden or Clinton or Harris. My liberal friends tell me if I don’t vote then I am supporting Trump. The truth is that I have supported neither. That is what NOT voting for someone means. Voting is an affirmation of support. I have friend who did vote for one or the other. That is fine by me. They felt like they HAD to vote for one or the other even though like me, they didn’t really like their choices. That’s where we are. Not liking our choices and either holding your nose and voting for one or the other or not voting at all.

As I said. Voting is an affirmation of support. I refuse to vote for a candidate I cannot support. I don’t have to agree with every position but I won’t vote for someone I cannot support simply because the other candidate is worse. The logic is that simple.

OJ never confessed to murder, so he must have been innocent.

Not everything is a talking point. Sometimes it’s just a well-researched argument.

The one that implies anyone who votes for a conservative supports totalitarianism. Probably the most overused talking point on this board.

Wheather they believe that they ideologically support totalitarianism or not doesn't matter. By voting for Republicans that support Trump, they are functionally enabling Trump’s totalitarian actions.

That's not a talking point, that's a well reasoned opinion supported by evidence. So yes, everybody that votes for Republicans enabling Trump, support Trump's totalitarianism.

Again. We disagree. It is not well reasoned. It is an overused talking point that goes back to his first term. It didn’t work then. It didn’t work in the last election and it is failing once again here. Everybody who disagrees with you isn’t out to end democracy.
