Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Donald Trump was once a cheerleader of publicizing hacked materials. “Russia, if you're listening,” Trump said during a press conference in his 2016 presidential run, when Hillary Clinton's deleted personal emails were a hot topic, “I hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.”

“I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press,” he said back then.

That changed when Trump's latest presidential campaign declared this weekend it had been hacked by Iran. "Any media or news outlet reprinting documents or internal communications are doing the bidding of America’s enemies and doing exactly what they want,” Steven Cheung, the campaign's communications director, said in a statement on Saturday announcing that the campaign had been hacked.

The campaign has not responded to questions about why its view on hacking changed, including a query on Monday from The Associated Press. But its new position is a striking change from 2016, when Trump heartily embraced the Russian hacking of his opponent Clinton's aides and the Democratic National Committee.

The current hack, so far, is murky.

On Friday, Microsoft issued a report stating that Iranian hackers tried to penetrate the account of an official with one of the presidential campaigns, but did not disclose additional details. On Saturday, the Trump campaign announced it had been hacked, though it also did not identify the individual whose account was breached. It did so after Politico said it had been contacted by an unknown source peddling what was represented to be internal documents from the campaign.............

Millions of people got to hear him in a long conversation. That's a success.

People can decide if they liked the conversation, did or didn't like some things that were said, but to act like it was a failure because people who already hated Trump didn't like it doesn't mean much to the people who listened.

    1.3 million.

not "millions" - and i would wager that a majority were Trump supporters - once again, he isnt reaching who he NEEDS to win the election

Like i said previously- Success for Democrats. Absolutely.

The longer you can keep him talking, the better ( again for his opponent )

And yet you don't seem to mind the disinformation from the government.

Musk is a threat to peace? That's crazy.
Trump is the threat and source of misinformation. Musk is just Musk, but he does allow the disinformation. We should classify X as the Babylon Bee of social media, but even then there will be those who proclaim whatever is spread on X/Truth as gospel.

Trump's use of The Big Lie to divide Americans is the single biggest threat to democracy in our lifetime. We know it's a lie. We know that there wasn't widespread voter fraud on a scale large enough to change the outcome of an election. The MAGA movement's insistence on spreading that disinformation as fact and the cult-like belief in it causes major problems for our country. Trump does not care that it divides Americans. All he cares about is keeping that lie alive to hopefully win an election to keep him out of jail. And he insinuated during the Musk interview that he would flee to Venezuela if he loses. We have a huge amount of people who believe that we don't have fair and secure elections. We have Trump loyalists who are prepared to not certify election results to keep the election in limbo. This is bad, horrible stuff.... "the likes of which no one has ever seen."

And you support this. You try to justify it with all kinds of other misdirection crap, including whatever it is you're insinuating with your claim of "disinformation from the government".

    Oops. This is interesting.

And the last tweet in the thread:

“Donald Trump will always side against workers standing up for themselves, and he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected. Both Trump and Musk want working-class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”

they really believe this kind of stuff..

The new Adam Schiff looks confused

Trump may have accepted 3 but only one has been agreed to, Harris has other obligations on the 4th and just because Trump make a deal with Fox without consulting the Democratic team, should not in anyway force Harris to cancel already planned agendas on that day. This is all a PR stunt to get Harris on Fox where Trump will be sure that Fox (non) news will do all they can to help him like they have done previously by leaking the questions that they planned to ask both him and Clinton but only to HIS campaign.

    Oops. This is interesting.

    LOL

    Thats "Success"

This is only the beginning of the dominos - i hope he does another "spaces table" open discussion.

SOS. The ship is going down. Send help.

Was the Trump campaign signaling to be saved when it played a video clip of the theme song from the 1997 film “Titanic” Friday at rally for the Republican nominee in Montana? Maybe, but Celine Dion wasn’t about to throw them a life preserver.

The singer’s management team and record label instead responded to the former president’s use of her hit, “My Heart Will Go On” with this statement: “In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use. …And really, THAT song?”

Picking a ballad associated with one of the worst maritime disasters ever wasn’t a wise choice for a campaign that’s been taking on water since President Biden stepped out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris stepped in. New polling shows Harris ahead of Trump by 4 percentage points in the key swing states of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, flipping the narrative from the past few months..............

Trump’s team also took up the song, also to Springsteen’s displeasure. Apparently like Reagan’s crew, they only listened to the refrain “Born in the U.S.A.” (Trump once claimed he got bigger crowds than Springsteen, but that’s another story about an insecure man obsessed with size.)

In 2015, Trump kicked off his candidacy to the tune of R.E.M.’s prophetic “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine).” There couldn’t have been a better soundtrack to the beginning of the end for elections and politics as we understood them, but hey, he felt fine. R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe, however, was not fine, posting later that “we do not condone the use of our music by this fraud and con man.”

The Trump/Pence ticket used the Rolling Stone’s “You Can’t Always Get What you Want” at rallies and events headed into both the 2016 and 2020 elections. It seemed hilarious at the time. But the song would later become a theme for the majority who voted for Hilary Clinton in 2016, but still ended up with Trump thanks to the electoral college vote.

In September 2020, President Trump walked off Air Force One in Michigan to the tune of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s dig at draft-dodging rich kids, “Fortunate Son.” The 1969 protest song focuses on class inequity during the Vietnam War, with John Fogerty singing about a “millionaire’s son” born with a “silver spoon in hand” dodging service in the military while others are sent to fight and die. The song was a fitting soundtrack for Trump, but probably not in the way his team intended. It drew attention to his draft-dodging record of five deferments at the height of the Vietnam War. Oops.

During the 2024 Republican National Convention last month, the former president walked out to James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.” It’s hard to imagine what the organizers were thinking with that choice given that women’s reproductive rights were decimated with the repeal of Roe vs. Wade thanks to three justices Trump appointed. There’s also the former president’s track record with women, including being held liable for sexual assault and the awful things he says he “can get away with” because he’s famous.

Like R.E.M.’s Stipe, artist after artist has warned the MAGA machine to stop using their songs at rallies and events. The aggrieved include Adele, Neil Young, Aerosmith and The Smiths. The latest cease and desist comes from the estate of the late, great Issac Hayes. His family on Sunday posted a legal complaint on X demanding that Trump stop using “Hold On (I’m Coming).” They said if they don’t get satisfaction by Aug. 16, they’ll sue............

    right on cue
    =========
Without offering a shred of evidence, Lara Trump has blamed the tech glitches during Donald Trump’s interview with Elon Musk on X on the “deep state.”

The daughter-in-law of the former president made the comments during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program on Monday night, and she went on to claim that Trump’s adversaries have been given a “free pass” while President Biden is in the White House.

Trump’s interview with Musk on Monday began 40 minutes late and suffered from glitches, in a situation that was reminscient of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign announcement on the platform last year.

“I think it’s pretty obvious at this point, there are a lot of people out there and there’s a massive effort, of course, to keep Donald Trump out of the White House,” Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump and the Republican National Committee co-chair, claimed on Monday. “These people are terrified. This is the deep state. This is the swamp in Washington, DC.”

Musk and Trump were supposed to begin speaking live on X at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, but after users reported not being able to tune in, the broadcast didn’t begin until 8:40 p.m...........
