    Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

    There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

    She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

    She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

    This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

    To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

    I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

    Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

    Dang man, why can't corporate media be more in bed with the Democrats? Damn those journalistic standards. I want to know what embarrassing crap is on those hacked emails. :soapbox:

    ============
    An alleged Iranian hacking operation that the Donald Trump campaign says leaked internal documents to reporters has run into a surprising problem: So far, newsrooms have been reluctant to run with the material.

    Over the past few weeks, reporters at Politico, The Washington Post and the New York Times received emails from a mysterious figure who called himself “Robert,” offering internal Trump campaign documents, most notably a 271-page one listing JD Vance’s potential vulnerabilities as a running mate, apparently compiled well before Trump picked the Republican senator from Ohio.

    The FBI is now investigating alleged Iranian hacking attempts, which also targeted the Biden-Harris campaign. Longtime Trump friend Roger Stone confirmed to The Post on Monday that his email account had been compromised.

    All of it — an alleged hacker hiding behind a pseudonym offering internal documents of questionable news value — has echoes of the Russian hacks of Democratic campaign emails in 2016, which were then published by WikiLeaks and eagerly picked over by the press.

    Now, eight years later, media organizations are being tested again with how best to cover news from an alleged hack, without playing into the hands of foreign actors looking to interfere in American elections. For now, the decision among the outlets that received the documents has been not to publish them, focusing instead on the possible hack itself.

    “This episode probably reflects that news organizations aren’t going to snap at any hack that comes in and is marked as ‘exclusive’ or ‘inside dope’ and publish it for the sake of publishing,” said Matt Murray, executive editor of The Post. Instead, “all of the news organizations in this case took a deep breath and paused, and thought about who was likely to be leaking the documents, what the motives of the hacker might have been, and whether this was truly newsworthy or not.”

    Also, have to point out the glaring hypocrisy of Trump and his campaign, as usual.

    ===========
    In 2016, Trump relished Russian hacks of Democratic campaign emails, once asking the country to find more of Hillary Clinton’s emails with the phrase, “Russia, if you’re listening.”

    But in the aftermath of its own possible hack, the Trump campaign told reporters that to publish the material would be assisting a foreign state actor in undermining democracy. “Any media or news outlet reprinting documents or internal communications are doing the bidding of America’s enemies and doing exactly what they want,” Steven Cheung, a campaign spokesman, said in a statement.

    Its only OK when we do it- Republicans

    Another reason for Trump not getting the numbers he wanted yesterday. A lot of people simply logged out for a couple of hours.

    Looks like the Harris campaign is leaning in on the message that your vote is private. I think this is a smart move for them. MAGAs will generally try to bully people, so don’t argue with your spouse, father, uncle, mother or sibling. Just vote your conscience, and save yourself the hassle.

    Donald Trump hinted that he might flee to Venezuela if he loses the election this November.

    The former president made the comment as part of a fear-mongering prediction during his X interview with Elon Musk on Monday.

    “If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we’ll meet the next time in Venezuela,” Trump said.

    He elaborated, explaining that Venezuela — a dictatorship where nearly two dozen people have been killed in crackdowns on political protests — would be far safer than the US if Vice President Kamala Harris wins in 2024.

    “We’ll have a meeting and dinner in Venezuela,” Trump said, “Because that’s what’s happening—their crime rate’s coming down and our crime rate’s going through the roof.”..........

    JUST had this convo w/ daughters boyfriend over weekend-

    Told him that these women, married to MAGA men, when they enter that booth, can pull lever for Harris or whoever else, and walk out saying "I voted for Trump" and no one will know the difference.

    Smart play.

    The city of Asheville, NC has required the Trump campaign to pay in advance for its rally there because of a last-minute rental policy it has. That’s a smart move. The other thing to note is that the campaign rented the smaller of 2 civic venues, only holding about 2,500. There is another venue in the same complex that holds about 7,200. I’ve been to Asheville several times, it’s a wonderful city, that leans pretty far left. I’m not certain that there won’t be protestors outside his rally.

    “Trump is set to take the stage at Asheville's Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on Wednesday after paying $82,247.60 to the city for a "last-minute" rally, according to Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR). The campaign, struggling to effectively blunt the momentum of Vice President Kamala Harris, reportedly first contacted the city about the rally on August 8.

    City of Asheville spokesperson Kim Miller told BPR that $22,500 of the amount paid is a two-day rental fee for the auditorium, while "the remainder of the funds go to cover additional costs such as house support, production staff, production equipment rental, and exterior items like queue stanchions and port-a-loos."

    While the campaign paid in advance due to Asheville's policy for short-notice bookings, Trump has a long history of failing to pay cities for billed rally fees, leaving the White House in January 2021 with at least $850,000 in unpaid rally debt. Most of the bills are still unpaid, including more than $500,000 owed to the city of El Paso, Texas.”

    Ongoing pattern

    I think he might still owe DC for his inauguration
    ============

    Nearly five years after he held a reelection rally in El Paso, Texas, Donald Trump still owes the city more than $500,000 for police coverage, trash pickup and other municipal services — and local leaders have now slapped a six-figure late fee on the ex-president’s outstanding bill.

    The City of El Paso sent an “updated invoice statement” to the Trump campaign that includes a one-time delinquency charge of $98,787.58, KTSM reported on Monday.

    That adds a 21 percent premium to Trump’s original bill of $470,417.05, spread across six different city agencies. In all, El Paso authorities say the self-professed “law-and-order candidate” has stiffed them over $60,630.84 in Fire Department costs, $6,286.57 in Department of Aviation costs, $6,452 in Streets & Maintenance Department costs, $528 in Health Department costs, $15,577.52 in mass transit costs, and $380,942.12 in Police Department costs.

    In all, Trump now owes El Paso $569,204.63, according to KTSM.……

    we would all pitch in to fuel his plane to get him there. but you know they would kidnap his arse first thing and auction him off to the highest bidder.

    I watched the video at this link:

    The founder of this "uncommitted movement" strikes me as being a can't be gotten along with kind of person.

    I would think she could be scheduled for a nice long speaking slot during the middle of one of the nights.

    Despite the late start, it seemed to be a success. This is exactly what the left and even the EU didn't want to happen. Millions of people getting to hear a long conversation with Trump without the corporate media being able to filter it though their Democrat lense.
    If success is measured from an inverse universe then I suppose so. That criminal and the X-Rimmer sidekick made sure that the criminal is not going to get union support on election day.

    In the course of a few brief sentences they managed to self-define and apply the curse term "scabies" to themselves.

    Scabies or scabs? Either way they have it coming.

    Your pattern is so well known by now and transparent. You always move to the insults when the discussion isn't going your way.

    Can you define what's not going my way?

    What I'm insulting is your inability to comprehend. Republicans will never see a bill like that again in your lifetime. This is a simple idea. You compromise, and get something "good".

    You can't fit reality into your worldview because it goes against Papa Trump. Trump screwed you over because he needed an issue to run on.

    Am I mad that a conserative border bill didn't get passed? Would I have considered this getting passed as "goinng my way"? No, to both.
