I find myself never agreeing with this looney tune but I think she is might be on to something. At the very minimum for a conversation. I heard this yesterday evening and have been thinking about a lot last night and today. Curious on others thoughts.
Why do we all have to share a federal government. The 2 sides are not just politically apart, but are different in their core values. I think this needs to be discussed before conflict actually boils to the top.
If we are honest, it is already simmering. This should be a like a divorce only with vast population migration to different areas.
We remain allies with defensive pacts and trade pacts but share not common government.
I get the first reaction is horror but if you think about it, it might be the only way...

What would it look like? What regions/states would go where?

Farb, I read today that the SEC has opened an investigation into Senator Burr and his brother. I didn’t save the link though. It was good to read that. If they can send Martha Stewart to prison….

Kelly Loeffler illustrates the problem with prosecuting these folks. She’s really wealthy, worth billions I think without looking it up. She was in the same briefing with Burr and did the same thing he did. She will not be charged because her stock trades made up a smaller proportion of her portfolio and she trades all the time. (well, not her but her portfolio managers).

Whereas Burr has a portfolio of $1.6M and rarely trades. So his activity stuck out because he sold almost all of it, IIRC. Still, he knew what he did was wrong and I don’t have any sympathy for him. I doubt they’ll put him in jail like they did Martha Stewart, but they probably should.

Considering every major metropolitan area in the country is already blue, I'd assume that would stay the same, and the secessionists in the cities can go fly Trump flags in the rest of the country where livestock outnumber humans and are surviving by sucking off metro areas' teats. No, people from cities all over the country that overwhelmingly vote blue are not giving them up to go live somewhere else. And I'm willing to bet that any fool talking about succession in any metropolitan area would be totally against it once he found out he'd have to move to farmland to be with his real people.

I do not think it may happen that way. For example California could become a progressive nation and Texas a libertarian nation. We see a bit of that as people are migrating to Texas from California looking for more freedom.

You really don't have a high opinion of the people that live outside of the blue metro areas do you? That is a problem as well with the bureaucrats that run this country as well.

My whole family comes from Carencro and Opelousas, LA. You think I hate my own family? I think they live in an area that votes against their own interests and would gladly move to the metro area once they realized what they were stuck with.

None of this matters. We aren't building a Berlin Wall which is the only way something like this could work. Like I said, it's a stupid thought experiment.

There are plenty of bureaucrats who grew up in rural areas. It is probably similar to the percentage of the population who lives in those areas. Which is about 20%.

It's just confusing that 20% of the population thinks that they should be as influential as the other 80%.

It's like when someone points to an electoral map of the US broken down by county and points to all the red on the map like it somehow is a relevant metric.

Well, to be fair, in our system of government and thank the Lord, they would be correct. Each state, despite the number of cows vs. people have 2 senators. That is so the minority would not be ruled by the majority, so yes, those 20% do have just as much influence as the 80%. That is by design and it is a good design for a republic.

Wow. That is so clever! They don't work to keep people out who have any genuine desire to get into whatever the wall is blocking. In this case, the wall would be a marker setting aside land for you and your ilk to have your own Trump Utopia because y'all are too chickenspit to play the game without having it rigged in your favor. That's what all this Trump shirt is about anyway. White people realizing they aren't as special as they thought they were all their lives and getting all mad that black and brown people are about to dwarf them in population numbers and they're terrified of what could be done to them in turn after they become the minority. So they'll gerrymander their way out of feeling repercussions until it spills into the streets.

That was a racist post dude. Just sayin'

What is racist about it? Please elaborate.

"getting all mad that black and brown people are about to dwarf them in population numbers and they're terrified of what could be done to them in turn after they become the minority."

Desiring that one ethnic group becomes the minority and desiring another ethnic group becoming the majority. That preferential view is racist. I would say incredibly racist!

So why should that 20% expect the other 80% to have a high opinion of them, especially when that 20% doesn't have a high opinion of the other 80%?

Maybe the 80% of the population living in urban areas is frustrated that the 20% out in the country are preventing things like spending on social programs, especially when that 20% are living in areas that already get much more federal money per capita than the 80%?

Where did I say that I desire an ethnic group becoming a minority and any other becoming the majority? Oh yeah, I didn't. All I did was state what the latest census states. We, as a country, are becoming less and less white with each passing decade and white people won't be a majority in many places across this country much sooner than later. shirt, I live in Orleans Parish where white people have been in the minority my entire life. The rest of the country is just catching up to what's been normal in Orleans Parish for longer than I've been alive.

Never did I say that's something I "desire," but you couldn't accuse me of shirt unless you made that part up, could you?

I think you've got BINGO! It's almost like you can tell a state's proportional reliance on federal money by looking at how dark red it votes.
