Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Why wouldn’t you? They won’t be able to see you, you won’t be able to see them. Why not?
Unless you compulsively go into every restroom you see, I'm pretty sure you understand the concept of not going into a restroom you don't need to go into.

So why do you appear to think someone not going into a restroom they don't need to go into might lead to some sort of gotcha?

I don’t understand. At the mall, girls say dad, we need to use the bathroom. Dad needs to use bathroom as well. Why not go in with the girls to take care of your business. What is the problem?

In many countries it isn't a problem.

There really isn't any reason we have separate bathrooms for males and females.

I would rather use the restroom for the gender I identify as.

I don’t choose to use the restroom of the gender someone else identifies as, and I don’t use the ladies’ restroom just because you’re telling me to.

I’ll let my daughter choose her restroom based on what she chooses, and I’ll choose mine.

So you have no problem her going into the bathroom with the five bikers who just pulled up for a pit stop?

Much of Europe doesn’t have unisex bathrooms.
Yea, much of Europe doesn't, much of it does, or it did when I lived in Belgium in 99-02.

We can quibble over what "much" means, or acknowledge that places where unisex bathrooms are common do not have a public restroom rape crisis.

I’m glad I live in the US. I do enjoy international travel and the local cultures. And personally, I hate public restrooms, I would prefer a tree.

I didn't know living out in the country made public exposure legal. Good to know.
You obviously don’t live in the country. You would have to have a public for this to be an issue. The ducks in my pond may qualify. The owl that hangs out in the back field may.

She’s not choosing that. She identifies as a girl.

If she identified as a boy and dressed and looked like a boy and went into the stall, why would the bikers know any different?
