Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

• Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Why only trans children? What is the difference between a trans child and a cis child that makes the cis child better able to self-identify at a given age?

A child born with a penis is a boy. A child born with a vagina is a girl. A child born with both are hermaphrodites.

I don't give a shirt about some circles. If I am able to have children - which I am - I want them to be created with my DNA.

Misgendering someone is harmful. It's one of the things that leads to the high rates of suicide that you say should be addressed with proper mental health care. Why would you intentionally do it to someone you care about?

Gender dysphoria is classified in the DSM-V as a mental disorder, but only in the sense that someone wants to be the opposite gender from their biological sex and experiences significant social and emotional stress because of it. If they take steps to rectify the dysphoria (by transitioning to the desired gender in various fashion), then they would not be classified as having a mental disorder, assuming they were no longer experiencing "clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning."

The rate of psych issues is high in transgenderism. The left always say the high rate of suicide attempt is due to lack of acceptance by the population. However, those that transition and are accepted continue to have psych issues.

So a person with a mental disorder removes their penis, essentially according to this board also removes the mental disorder. Next thing you know they commit suicide, not because they have a mental disorder, but because of society not accepting them.

Oppression is duly noted. However, other oppressed groups do not have that suicide rate. There is much more to this CM.

So much stupidity to unpack here.

1. Gender dysphoria is a mental disorder. Bringing one's outward body to more closely match their gender identity is one way to treat the disorder.

2. Treating people with dignity and respect is one way to help them feel accepted. People that feel accepted by their loved ones and by society as a whole are more likely to have a strong social network in place to help with things like depression, suicidal thoughts, etc.
