Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

• The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
• Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

I am not. They have a penis, they should use the mens room.

If school teacher can use the same rest room as little boys, I have no problem with any religion members doing the same.

Would you rather your son share a restroom with someone in a dress who has a penis and uses a stall or your girl share a restroom with someone in a dress who has a penis, and uses a stall?

For as pervasive as these bathroom flashers are, I've never seen one.

It's also still a crime (or at least, it is in many places) to expose yourself, typically with a qualifier such as 'wilfully and lewdly', and that still applies in a public bathroom and changing area. You can't just go waving your junk around at everyone. That's not a thing.

I don't know why some people seem to think that once you've got access to a public bathroom or changing area, anything goes. I have no idea what's going on in the public bathrooms and changing areas they're going to, but that's definitely not the case in any I've ever been in.

What about Catholics? should they be able to sue the same bathrooms as little boys?

I don’t have a daughter, but I know a guy who does and he abused her. Is he a better judge of what is safe for our girls than I am?

If you refuse to date a transgender because she is not your type that is perfectly OK. However, if your reason not to date is because you are uncomfortable with transgender then you could be labeled a transphobe. If your excuse is that the transgender woman has a penis then that would be transphobia.

I have a daughter. I would be extremely pissed if someone flashed her in a public restroom, regardless of which particular genitalia was actually flashed.

That said, I have absolutely no expectation that would happen.

THERE AREN’T URINALS IN THE WOMEN’S RESTROOMS.

My daughter will be in a stall. Presumably, a trans woman would also be in a stall. There’s just no opportunity for my daughter to see anyone’s genitalia that would not be illegal indecent exposure.

The same thing applies in the men’s room if you don’t want your son to see a vagina. People who don’t have penises don’t use urinals, therefore they would always use the stall. Therefore, zero chance of your son seeing a vagina.

So unless it is your accusation that trans people are going around flashing people in the sink area of the restroom (they’re not), the whole forking argument is ridiculous.

Because Republicans in red states passed laws making it a political issue.

I believe the LGBTQIA crowd made that an issue once they realize there was no more to be gained with same sex marriage. And right on Q the Evangelicals went nuts.

This came up a few years ago. I remember this because my dad boycotted target over their inclusion of gender neutral bathrooms or something. his stance was there should be 2 separate bathrooms for boys and girls! too risky! It was on NPR at the time, and the number of trans people doing something (exposing) themselves to others was very low. Like less than 1% of all incidents. Fast forward a few months later and he needed to use the restroom. Well the men's room was out of order so he casually walked into the women's one like no big deal. I tried to point out what he was doing, considering his previous stance. It didn't sink in

Yea, no.

The Fox News crowd needed another culture issue to rile up their base when they lost the gay marriage issue and no one cared and life went on.
