Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

• Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

I never said that and the person you are quoting was clearly speaking about labeling an outside group (in that case, students struggling or behind for a specific reason). I am speaking directly of you and the things you say.

You seemed to have understood it the second time you read it. Maybe you read it too fast and jumped to a conclusion based on your preconceived idea of what I would say.

Maybe it's because I posted late at night as well. That's always a possibility. I think it's worth noting that I've seen more than a few clunky and oddly-worded posts from you. It could easily just be two people with different ways of writing/speaking.

I see you are able to change the words under your avatar. That seems like the perfect place for pronouns.

Again, it's your call obviously, but I think that it would a better strategy if you want people to know your gender than waiting for a slip and snarking on them for it.

The ninth will be my last day of regular posting. After that I will probably post from time to time if I read something particularly worthy of refutation on this board. Or if there's an interesting news item that I would like to see comment on. Or if a poster has something particularly good to say and I want to support that.

Sounds like a lot, but yes that will be pretty rare. Not saying it's a bad board, because it's actually very good. I wouldn't bother with it if it wasn't. But this let's all think the same vibe is not for me.

The sad thing is that they’re so fanatical and so loud they make themselves seem more numerous than they actually are. Now don’t get me wrong - 25-30% is just terrible.

I couldn’t care less about banning anyone. So you felt strongly enough to type that out, looked at it and said, yeah, that‘s what I want to say, but you refuse to clarify what you meant by it? That about cover it? At least have the stones to be forthright about what you wanted to say.

What I wanted to say was exactly what I said. I don't know why that is so hard to understand. I don't mind that this board has so many people I disagree with. I could just hang out in some Trump supporting Forum if I wanted opinions that I agree with all the time.

The one thing I do find annoying about this particular board is this tendency to say wait are you saying.. and have it be something that I didn't say at all. I guess I should be happy that you're not doing it in this case. But if you want to read a deeper meaning into my words, that is on you.

I disagree with Paxton about calling gender affirming care child abuse and sic'ing CPS on families and doctors for it. I also think that it was inappropriate for him to go into the bathroom with a female child not a family member if that really happened.

I want doctors stopped from performing these life-altering procedures on kids far to young to consent to this kind permanent changes to their bodies, including removing of healthy body parts. But I want laws to stop them, not the guidance of an Attorney General, or a governor as I criticized DeSantis for.

I actually think your stance on this is more reasonable than most of the GOP.

What I don’t understand is why you lump puberty blockers in with surgery? Or maybe you don’t, but I seem to remember you lumping them in with all other treatment options. Like hormone treatment, would you be against that as well?
