What will happen now that former President Donald Trump was found guilty (in 34 counts) by the jury?
    *
Speculation on the judge relating to sentencing?
    *
    Appeals?
    *
    Political Damage?

Mike Johnson, Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, has responded to Donald Trump’s guilty verdict at his hush money trial by calling for the Supreme Court to intervene in the appeals process…..

On Friday morning, Johnson expressed his concern about the verdict on Fox News’ Fox and Friends breakfast show. “I do believe the Supreme Court should step in. Obviously this is totally unprecedented and it’s dangerous to our system,” the Speaker said.

“This is diminishing the American people’s faith in our system of justice itself and, to maintain a republic, you have to have that, people have to believe that justice is fair, that there’s equal justice under law.

“They don’t see that right now and I think that the justices on the court – I know many of them personally – I think they’re deeply concerned about that, as we are.……

That's not how it works and I'd liked to believe that Rep Johnson knows that, yet here we are.

It's so infantile. The obvious scapegoat is the defense attorney for putting on a poor defense. That would mean they lost fairly though.

I think it was Coldseat that pointed out to acquit Trump you had to believe Cohen was some angel that took out a home loan to pay off Stormy. The defense then wanted you to believe he turned into a spurned lover. When he didn't get a white house job, despite still being Trump's personal lawyer with a huge retainer(that was totally not a reimbursement). That's the core of the defense case, and it was unbelievable.
Exactly. I read some of the recaps of the closing argument, and wondered if he was actively trying to get Trump convicted.

He tells the jury that the reason you never saw a retainer agreement was because Trump and cohen had a verbal retainer agreement. So, the jury says, “the defense claims this was payment for a retainer, yet we have an OGE filing signed by Trump stating it was a reimbursement and we have Weisselbergs handwritten notes showing it was a reimbursement. Why should I believe ANYTHING the defense said if they are going to blatantly lie like that”?

Then, he said, “don’t believe Michael vibe a story. He’s a liar.” But, he didn’t follow it up with “believe this story instead.”

What elected Republicans fail to realize is that they will need to have an actual criminal act, evidence of that criminal act and a DA to bring charges.

That is what so DISGUSTING about all the fake outrage from elected Republicans. NONE of them are disputing trump committed the crimes, they want to convince their voters that what he did was not a crime despite it being against the law. :freak7:

In fairness, while he’s totally guilty, it isn’t the most serious of his crimes. It reminded people of how sleezy Trump is and his own justice department jailed Cohen for mostly the same behavior, but it is the least of his crimes. His profiteering from the office, handling of secrets, and undermining of democracy are far more serious.

The biggest benefit to me personally is sentencing happens before the convention. That means the self stylized party of "law and order" either has to dump Trump, or vote to make a convicted felon their nominee.

This is my reaction every time I think about it:

I just heard on CNN that they interviewed 10 people that had voted for Trump twice. The results were shocking in a good way. 6 of them said they plan to vote for Biden, 1 for Trump, and the other 3 were unsure. They quoted a few saying they had had enough. They talked about his lying. It is hard to believe they actually voted twice for Trump. I can only hope they are representative, because that would be extraordinary.

I don’t understand why you think that ad is good for Biden? To me it reinforces the idea that Biden is old and bad for our economy, while Trump will speed it up. I didn’t see the train running anything over. Perhaps if the train ran over laws or democracy or someone poor or anything else he has hurt, then it would make sense. I prefer to see Biden on a renewable machine with futuristic things.
Maybe you didn't have the sound turned on. To the background of Electric Avenue, Joe was saying:

“I got hairy legs that turned … blonde in the sun. And the kids used to come up and reach into the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and watch the hair come back up again."

Now isn't that the gall darndest thing, it made it all worth listening too. Joe actually said that years ago at a swimming pool dedication speech.

    Joe can be funny.

    :D

I sure do like him, he's getting my vote.

That's interesting, but it's far too early to read anything into that. Just too much can change in 5 months. Let's try again in October.

I wonder if the good Rep Johnson knows there's a common labor's tool named after him???

A long handled pry bar with wheels, we call them Johnson Bars. They're "Round Fulcrum Monster Pry Bars" according to Google.

he knows thats not how it works, but he knows the cultist don't know how it works. so when the SC doesn't step in, he'll go on about how Biden is influencing them and they'll believe it..

I was told that Blanche was actually a good lawyer. 🤦‍♀️ So what the heck is this nonsense?

They will more than likely try to get an appeal by asking for an emergency ruling because Trump's defence will claim this has created a constitutional crisis.

They might get that appeal. What's Alito going to have for lunch? The others???

I think we'll see the Supreme Court take up his appeal eventually. I'd rather they didn't, but they don't listen to me.

I guess this goes here. Even with the added context I don't know what it is, It's probably a must see:
