It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

how many more things are needed? The evil Texas allows 7 different things.

Did I say there needed to be more? Did Democrats? The only time this is a discussion is when Republicans are trying to remove options from Americans for no reason.

Did you read that whole article?

I am sure you would agree that any number of illegal voters in unacceptable correct?

Given those numbers are vanishingly small if it occurs at all, I'd rather or legislator focus on finding way to expand voting and make it easier so that more legal citizens can vote in elections. Don't you?

$6 isnt free, but come on.

Not one person had to stand in line for 8 hours to vote. I call BS. Also, absentee voting is available to all. Low income people are only impacted if they choose to be impacted.

I tend to think that people are innovative when they want something. Instead of telling minorities and poor people that they are unable to live like the rest of us, maybe we start telling them of all of the things they have that the rest of the world is without. Maybe we talk about the american dream and teach them how to get out from the hands of the government. Then maybe they will believe that they can accomplish anything in this great country like every generation before them.

The growth in registered voters has outstripped the number of available polling places in both predominantly white and Black neighborhoods. But the lines to vote have been longer in Black areas, because Black voters are more likely than whites to cast their ballots in person on Election Day and are more reluctant to vote by mail, according to U.S. census data and recent studies. Georgia Public Broadcasting/ProPublica found that about two-thirds of the polling places that had to stay open late for the June primary to accommodate waiting voters were in majority-Black neighborhoods, even though they made up only about one-third of the state's polling places. An analysis by Stanford University political science professor Jonathan Rodden of the data collected by Georgia Public Broadcasting/ProPublica found that the average wait time after 7 p.m. across Georgia was 51 minutes in polling places that were 90% or more nonwhite, but only six minutes in polling places that were 90% white.

Doesn't sound like disenfranchisement to me. We stand in line longer at disney world. This also says that minorities would prefer to vote in person, as do I. So we very well know that we may have to wait. Generally, I like to go as early as possible to vote. Yes, I wake up 2 hours before I normally would. It is called self sacrifice for the greater good.

I will say it again, anyone in the US that wants to vote and is legal has an EASY path to doing so.

When the number of voters assigned to a polling place and the corresponding number of voters/polling booth are 10 times as high in low income areas then the wait time will be correspondingly higher. Add to that laws that prohibits giving water and food to people in line. Some of those people were waiting for 6 HOURS

hence the availability to early vote if they so desire. I doubt that anyone stood in line for 6 hours to vote. If there were one offs, we should fix it. But none of that give an credence to not having an ID to vote.

Many minority voters do not like early voting - they don't trust that their votes will be counted and with good reason

That is fair. I don't like flying, so I chose to drive. It takes me much longer, but it is my choice.

That is not comparative. There is a big difference between taking a car rather than a plane and not having your vote count. Unfortunately statistics shows that far more minority votes are discarded without the voter being informed of it, than white voters.

I agree with the first part, unfortunately, democrats and many of your brethren on this page are against that. If ID is required, illegals could not vote. Ma'am, despite what people in the media tell you, we are not disenfranchised here. We are the most accommodating country in the world, hence the reason people risk entering illegally to enjoy our fruits. Transportation in our country is VERY cheap and available everywhere. The effort is minimal.

Republicans want every citizen in the country who is of legal age and in good standing with the courts to vote. Legally. It is that simple.
“illegals” are not voting in the US. You’re arguing something that doesn’t happen.

Also, Republicans most definitely do NOT want all eligible citizens to vote. If all citizens voted Rs would be defeated. It’s that simple. They want to make voting more difficult any way that they can.

Do not come in here and spout nonsense like this.

Well, you’re just wrong, flat out. The GOP is taking away absentee voting wherever they can. There are strict requirements in my state - not just anyone can use absentee ballots or vote by mail.

Lines in places where the GOP doesn’t want people to vote - inner cities and college campuses - were averaging 3 hours in 2024. There were isolated instances where the wait was over 5 hours, and I’m sure there were individuals who waited 8 hours or longer to vote.

Studies have shown, however, that people who encounter those types of wait times are less likely to vote in the future. Which, of course, is the desired effect.

Are you sure about that? I posted an article above that says different.

Why would conservatives not want people to vote? Have you seen the electoral map. These rural areas you speak of are all RED. The blue states are run by democrats and can do whatever they want. Do you think middle USA all of a sudden becomes blue if lines are shorter in rural counties? lol

Can you show that to me. I would be interested in reading that. This is the first time I have heard this argument being made. Sorry if you didn't like the analogy, it makes good sense when you are comparing times in order to get something done. But its ok, moving on.

North Carolina (2018): Black voters' mail-in ballots were more than twice as likely to be rejected compared to those from white voters.

Florida (2016 and 2018): In the 2016 general election, Florida officials rejected 2% of mail-in ballots from non-white voters, compared to 1% from white voters. In the 2018 general election, the rejection rate for mail-in ballots from voters aged 18–25 was 5%, higher than the overall average.
