It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

The growth in registered voters has outstripped the number of available polling places in both predominantly white and Black neighborhoods. But the lines to vote have been longer in Black areas, because Black voters are more likely than whites to cast their ballots in person on Election Day and are more reluctant to vote by mail, according to U.S. census data and recent studies. Georgia Public Broadcasting/ProPublica found that about two-thirds of the polling places that had to stay open late for the June primary to accommodate waiting voters were in majority-Black neighborhoods, even though they made up only about one-third of the state's polling places. An analysis by Stanford University political science professor Jonathan Rodden of the data collected by Georgia Public Broadcasting/ProPublica found that the average wait time after 7 p.m. across Georgia was 51 minutes in polling places that were 90% or more nonwhite, but only six minutes in polling places that were 90% white.

Doesn't sound like disenfranchisement to me. We stand in line longer at disney world. This also says that minorities would prefer to vote in person, as do I. So we very well know that we may have to wait. Generally, I like to go as early as possible to vote. Yes, I wake up 2 hours before I normally would. It is called self sacrifice for the greater good.

I will say it again, anyone in the US that wants to vote and is legal has an EASY path to doing so.

When the number of voters assigned to a polling place and the corresponding number of voters/polling booth are 10 times as high in low income areas then the wait time will be correspondingly higher. Add to that laws that prohibits giving water and food to people in line. Some of those people were waiting for 6 HOURS

hence the availability to early vote if they so desire. I doubt that anyone stood in line for 6 hours to vote. If there were one offs, we should fix it. But none of that give an credence to not having an ID to vote.

Many minority voters do not like early voting - they don't trust that their votes will be counted and with good reason

That is fair. I don't like flying, so I chose to drive. It takes me much longer, but it is my choice.

That is not comparative. There is a big difference between taking a car rather than a plane and not having your vote count. Unfortunately statistics shows that far more minority votes are discarded without the voter being informed of it, than white voters.

I agree with the first part, unfortunately, democrats and many of your brethren on this page are against that. If ID is required, illegals could not vote. Ma'am, despite what people in the media tell you, we are not disenfranchised here. We are the most accommodating country in the world, hence the reason people risk entering illegally to enjoy our fruits. Transportation in our country is VERY cheap and available everywhere. The effort is minimal.

Republicans want every citizen in the country who is of legal age and in good standing with the courts to vote. Legally. It is that simple.
“illegals” are not voting in the US. You’re arguing something that doesn’t happen.

Also, Republicans most definitely do NOT want all eligible citizens to vote. If all citizens voted Rs would be defeated. It’s that simple. They want to make voting more difficult any way that they can.

Do not come in here and spout nonsense like this.

Not one person had to stand in line for 8 hours to vote. I call BS. Also, absentee voting is available to all. Low income people are only impacted if they choose to be impacted.
Well, you’re just wrong, flat out. The GOP is taking away absentee voting wherever they can. There are strict requirements in my state - not just anyone can use absentee ballots or vote by mail.

Lines in places where the GOP doesn’t want people to vote - inner cities and college campuses - were averaging 3 hours in 2024. There were isolated instances where the wait was over 5 hours, and I’m sure there were individuals who waited 8 hours or longer to vote.

Studies have shown, however, that people who encounter those types of wait times are less likely to vote in the future. Which, of course, is the desired effect.

Are you sure about that? I posted an article above that says different.

Why would conservatives not want people to vote? Have you seen the electoral map. These rural areas you speak of are all RED. The blue states are run by democrats and can do whatever they want. Do you think middle USA all of a sudden becomes blue if lines are shorter in rural counties? lol

Can you show that to me. I would be interested in reading that. This is the first time I have heard this argument being made. Sorry if you didn't like the analogy, it makes good sense when you are comparing times in order to get something done. But its ok, moving on.

North Carolina (2018): Black voters' mail-in ballots were more than twice as likely to be rejected compared to those from white voters.

Florida (2016 and 2018): In the 2016 general election, Florida officials rejected 2% of mail-in ballots from non-white voters, compared to 1% from white voters. In the 2018 general election, the rejection rate for mail-in ballots from voters aged 18–25 was 5%, higher than the overall average.

Ma'am did you read the articles that you posted? I didn't make it to the second one as the first one was exactly as I thought.

The article says the reason from rejection were verified errors. And then of course this gem in the middle of the article.

“To be honest, we have no knowledge of ethnicity until the state gets all the data and compiles it,” said Seneca Nicholson, chairperson of the Vance County Board of Elections. “We don’t even look at it from this point of view. We just look to see if they followed all the rules.”

I never said anything about rural areas, I don’t think. But, those rural areas contain a significant minority of the actual people. And it’s usually very convenient to vote in rural areas. That’s not where the GOP concentrates their efforts to discourage voting.

There isn’t any such thing as states that are all one type of voter. There are significant numbers of voters from either party in every state. It just so happens that large cities and college campuses have a large proportion of dem voters. Guess where the GOP closes voting locations predominantly?

Or one state did this - there will now be only one place to drop off a mail ballot in each county, no matter how far it is from one side of the county to the other, nor how many people live in each county. Thus making it more difficult for people in large cities or on college campuses to cast their vote.

There are multiple, multiple examples of the GOP trying to restrict voting. Every so often one of them even says it out loud (that they don’t want more people to vote). Their policies are broadly unpopular, and the more people who vote, the fewer Rs who get elected.

And you are definitely wrong about non-citizens voting. It’s just propaganda bullshirt, which you seem to be happy to parrot on here.

    Did you read the article?

You tell me your big takeaway. Did non-citizen voting ever amount to enough to sway even a local election for dog-catcher? Ever?
Are you shifting the goal post? You started with NO illegals are voting. Then doubled down on it. Now is your contention that illegals do vote, just not in quantities to sway an election?

I understand you didn't read the article in the beginning and went with what the media tells you. Then I presume you read the article and need to back track a little. It is ok. No harm no foul.

No, I understand that what you are doing is pretending that non-citizen voting is an actual problem in this country when it most definitely is not. It’s essentially a lie told by many in the GOP, especially MAGA. But it’s still a lie, meant to help people like you become comfortable with putting people into camps for an indefinite period before eventually deporting them.

What you are doing is the same as if I said that voter fraud by MAGA voters is rampant and a real problem and we need to double down on those MAGA voters and make sure they don’t vote multiple times.

It’s about the same level of occurrence.

Is there info where thousands of conservatives fraudulently voted?
