This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

The last thing the decent poor black people in the inner cities need is replacing police officers with social workers. The so-called -reimagining of the police is not a good idea. In any event, I know a lot of cops in Baltimore and they have now adopted on their own the hands free approach the left wanted. They are now mostly helping people (something they find satisfying) and they do not police as they used to.

"The last thing we need is to reimagine the police because people don't need it, but the cops I know have reimagined the way the police in the same manner that I don't like and they find it satisfying because they are now helping people- the implication being, of course, that they weren't helping people before."

Do you even process what you type, or do you just spew crap and see what sticks to the wall?

No, that may be your opinion but if you read the studies and think about it there‘s really no evidence of that.

Let me offer an alternative opinion. Liberals are very tolerant of almost every POV, except intolerance. So as the right has become more and more radical, the left has become less and less tolerant of their intolerance.
Intolerance of the so-called intolerance of others is not the best pathway. Ideally both. sides would try to fully understand the opposing point of view and perhaps a new thesis could emerge. Affirming all the dogma in the left and right of the spectrum is not the best idea. It is sometimes a good idea to deviate from the orthodoxy of the side you support. The concept that those on the other side are WRONG and you are RIGHT is dangerous.

I always think about Adam Smith when i see a pious left winger that thinks she or he is 100% correct.

    Got it!

It's not so-called. It's real. It exists. Even the things you linked to that you thought proved your point say that it exists.

So, left wingers are more tolerant of other POV with the one exception being “intolerance” and yet you still find them “intolerant”? That should say something, if you reflect honestly on it.

Why should we tolerate “intolerance”? Tolerating intolerance is the pathway to fascism. Fascism could never take hold without the good people who did nothing, who tried to see the other side’s point of view. Hmmm, maybe the Jews are the source of all evil in this society? Nah, that’s not something that should be done.

On the other hand, with the exception of intolerance, I agree with you that it helps to try to see what the other side is thinking. But when the other side is trying to hurt people for who they are, then they don’t deserve that consideration.

There are good Rs left, although I’m not 100% sure this guy still considers himself a Republican.

As I said in another post. That thinking causes a slippery slope and before you know the intolerance gets worse. The word master bedroom becomes forbidden. The term fat becomes an insult. Before you know it the English language shrinks to the level seen in the English dictionary in the novel 1984.

The greater chance of fascism lies with the person that has the power to be intolerant of intolerance. And who defines intolerance? Is saying master bedroom unacceptable? That is what I mean by the slippery slope.

I am glad you realize it helps to know the other side point of view. However, do you ever ponder that perhaps the other side think your side is trying to hurt them? That is why tribalism is such a huge problem. We are wired for tribalism and it shows. The only way to ameliorate the issue is by moving to the center and to create a new tribe.

    Two quick points:

    1. You are actually calling out your fallacies now.

    2. Didn't someone (RobF, likely) already thoroughly torch you over your misrepresentation of Sapolsky's position?

This is apparently Trump’s idea of how to treat your competition in the upcoming Presidential election. He will never be anything but an amoral con man who would just as soon kill democracy as not, if it was in his own best interests.

They aren’t serious people anymore. They’re cartoon characters themselves, no wait that’s a slam on cartoon characters.

    Meanwhile the murders soar.
    Got it!

The murder rate went up because people where out of work, not because of any funding or defunding. Idle hands will murder, apparently. I mean, what else are they going to do with all of the guns floating around.

It's already flattening out and starting to come back down as we get back to full employment. Let's thank the Biden admin for getting us back to work and lowering the murder rate! Another feather in the administrations cap.
