This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

the fact that David Duke was almost our Gov, says everything you need to know about accepting racism with arms wide open..
And he probably has about as good of a chance today as he did then to come out with a good bit of support. Considering we elected JBE over David Vitter, however, gives me a little hope.

I'll put this here even though it's not exclusively a republican/right wing issue (but it seems mostly)

but when "never apologize' become a thing?

Even when new facts come in, even when I'm clearly wrong, even when my words/actions caused real hurt or damage, nope no apologies, no sorries, no my bads, no I was wrongs

at best all you get is a Reagan like "Mistakes were made" (made by me and I'm sorry I made them is never uttered)

When did the personal motto for so many people become "death before apology"

When and why did "I'm sorry", "I was wrong", "I messed up" become a dirty words?

Montana Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy acknowledged during a debate Monday that mocking comments he made in 2023 about Native Americans were “insensitive” but he refused to apologize, explaining that his remarks were a reflection of military culture.

“Yeah, insensitive,” Sheehy conceded when pressed by his Democratic opponent, incumbent Sen. Jon Tester.

“I come from the military, as many of our tribal members do. You know, we make insensitive jokes and probably off-color jokes sometimes,” he said.

Char-Koosta News reported in August that Sheehy joked at a 2023 fundraiser about Crow Tribe members being drunk at 8 a.m.

The Republican candidate told supporters at the event that he ropes and brands cattle with Crow members, because it’s “a great way to bond with all the Indians while they’re drunk at 8 a.m.”

Tester demanded Sheehy apologize for those comments during Monday’s debate.

“Tim, the statement you made degrades Native Americans across this country,” he said. “You’re a big guy, just apologize.”

Sheehy responded by demanding whether Tester would apologize for the millions of migrants that came across the U.S.-Mexico border during President Biden’s four years in office.

The Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council, which represents 11 tribes in the United States and Canada, asked Sheehy to apologize for his comments last month.

“The Crow people are not your punchline. Native Americans are not your punchline,” Bryce Kirk, the group’s chair, wrote in a letter to Sheehy..............

when they realized that apologizing means acknowledging your wrong/incorrect/bigoted/misogynistic

If you simply DONT say "sorry" you cant ever be held accountable in FULL for your words/views.

It has more to do with "taking responsibility" than anything else.

One of Trumps defining characteristics is his ability to never take blame for bad, only good. Something bad happens? Someone elses fault. Not me.

It became a thing in 2016 because it worked. It still works.

I recognize her option to terminate the developing life in her womb.
If wish she wouldn't though. Without an abortion there will be a life...a baby that you can hold...and kiss....and that baby will grow up and impact the lives of countless people. Abortion ends a life.
    Yet....
If I encounter anyone who has had an abortion, I treat them the same as everyone else.
    I treat them with respect.....because....
It is NOT MY place to judge. Yet IT IS totally fine for me to express my opinion that the developing life of the baby in the womb is important to me....and I wish it was important to others as well.
Most of you will vote for Harris because she most closely reflects your outlook or view of life.
I won't vote for her or Trump because neither of them reflect my outlook or view of life.

Given what you just wrote, it seems contradictory to your support for banning abortion. If you truly respected women's right to make their own choices, you wouldn't back a ban that forces them to give birth or risks their lives when faced with an unviable fetus due to illness or genetic issues.
