This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

Saul, I kind of recall that too. But I have fresh in my memory a memory of Trump saying Putin is genus, and think that might have had an impact on Steve.

I think that Trump miscalculated when he said that. Stinking rat's actually do smell bad.
Fair enough if overtly siding with Putin was the straw that broke the camel's back for Steve. Although it's not as if Trump had not been aligning himself with Putin in the past and the events of January 6th had happened prior to Steve's initial post.

My questions were intended to dig a little deeper behind policy rather than names and I think other posters did a good job at follow-up questions.

Like you, though, I don't get the interest in Tulsi Gabbard. Here's her just a couple of days ago:

Unreal. This woman is nothing but a shill and grifter for the far-right.

If that woman were the last woman on earth I would be more interested in gaining a stroke as I changed hands than I would be interested in her.

If you get my drift... .

Do you think it's reasonable or logical to hold any position or state anything as fact (Biden's Build Back America Plan didn't pass, but it sure didn't fit into the category of "moderate") without even having a basic understanding of the subject matter?
I think it reasonable to assume that an honorable man such as Senator Manchin can be trusted. My job is to teach elementary students how to play flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone and percussion. In addition to being a band director I am also a husband and a father. It is not my job to delve deeply into the Build Back America Plan. That's Joe Manchin's job. That's Fox News' job. That's the job of the #1 talk show radio station in NYC. They do the leg work that I don't have time to do. AND since they reach millions of folks...and I only reach a handful of your madaboutpolitics posters....they matter...and frankly what I say or don't say doesn't really matter. Ahhh.....but when I take a 10 year old child under my wings...and he or she masters the instrument of their choice....well the child and the parents are thrilled. Sometimes I install confidence in a child that has a life changing impact. So....that's where my attention is.
    Good night! :)

That’s a wonderful job, Steve. It must be very satisfying.

I would suggest that you are not being well served by only listening to one side of an issue. Fox News, depending on the program, has been pushing political lies and propaganda, and that’s not under dispute. If you do not listen to a wide variety of sources, you will truly not be able to make an informed decision.

I used to give a pass to the “hard news” side of Fox, but in the last few years they have spread misinformation also. They have reported false stories and have not made good faith efforts to retract them when they are found out to be false. They’ve lost some really good reporters with credibility, why is that? Why did these folks with integrity leave?

Why don’t you listen to the BBC radio station once in a while? Or CBS? Believe me, it is illuminating to listen to different sources and compare coverages. It’s only in that way that you can approach an understanding of what is actually happening.

For instance, did you know that West Virginia already has free universal pre-K, one of the parts of the BBB package? Did you realize that Joe Manchin actually supports all the programs of the BBB? His objection was to the size of the package, not the contents. If you listened to multiple sources, you would know this.

Thank you for your post. Re. receiving news that is less conservative to create balance...
When it fits into my schedule I do all of the following:
    1) look at bbcnews.com (BBCAMERICA)
2)World News Tonight with David Muir
    3) News Radio 880AM in New York (A supposedly hard news station but I often here left leaning bias enter into what is presented)

Ok...gotta eat breakfast and then go to school to teach.
    Bye for now.

    He's already said that.
No, he didn’t. What he actually said was:

Not likely. The only two Democrats I like are Joe Manchin and Tulsi Gabbard.
Since they are not likely to be the Democratic nominee in Nov of 2024 I might look at candidates outside the two major parties.
He “might” look at third parties…

I gave an answer that reflects what I would do if the election was this Tuesday. I'd only vote for a Republican if it was NOT Trump.

And “if the election was this Tuesday,” he wouldn’t vote for Trump.

Neither of these are commitments against “holding your nose and pulling the lever” two years from now.

Brandon was technically correct but I appreciate anyone that supports me.
Now I am technically and officially on the record that I will not vote for Trump no matter what.
    Back to teaching...bye.

Hey, you’ve gained a supporter in me. Anyone who has principles and will stand by them is cool with me, even if I don’t always agree with them.

Anyone in Louisiana still claim this Peice of work? It's like he's begging people not to vote for him.

I don't Steve so I'll take him at his word

That said, a lot of people spent 2017, 2018, 2019 and 10 months of 2020 saying they were completely disgusted by what Trump said/did/tweeted/wrought and there's no way they'd vote for him again

I have no doubt that a certain percentage of those people did indeed vote for him again
