This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

Conservatism has a moral rot at its core:

But will you do your part to ensure he does (i.e. vote Democrat)?
Uh...it does not work that way.
IF Trump runs in the REPUBLICAN Primary I will go into the polling station, declare I want to vote in the REPUBLICAN Primary and then I'll chose a different REPUBLICAN.

And if Trump runs in the primary and wins the Republican nomination, will you vote for the Democrat in the general?

Not likely. The only two Democrats I like are Joe Manchin and Tulsi Gabbard.
Since they are not likely to be the Democratic nominee in Nov of 2024 I might look at candidates outside the two major parties.

    Neither of which are Democrats.
I assume you are saying that Joe M. and Tulsi G. do not articulate the same speaking points or fall in line in general with mainstream Democrats.....yup....THAT IS WHY they are the only two folks I like that have a "D" next to their name when they are being interviewed on television.

But then you’ll “hold your nose and pull the lever for Trump,” right?

We’ve seen this spineless song and dance a million times. You’re not special.

I never said I was "special". I am not here to promote myself in any way.
A question was asked of me and I took a moment to reflect....then I answered to the best of my ability.
Nov. 2024 is still far from now. I gave an answer that reflects what I would do if the election was this Tuesday. I'd only vote for a Republican if it was NOT Trump. I would only vote for a Democrat if it was Manchin or Gabbard. That's my position today at 6:17pm EST. It's NOT SPECIAL....but I was asked a question and I took the time to answer.
Hopefully that is encouraged here on this forum.

You said you hoped Trump would lose if nominated.

The best way to do your part to make him lose is to vote Democrat, not third party.

I realize it doesn't mean much in New Jersey, given how comfortably the Democratic candidate has carried the state in recent history, but in a hypothetical situation where the state was projected to be close, would you cast your vote for the candidate with the best chance at defeating Trump?

No. The candidate that is the nominated for President at the Democratic Convention would be the candidate with the best chance of defeating Trump in your hypothetical scenario. I have already stated the only two Democrats I WOULD vote for are Manchin and Gabbard.
I am done on this topic for tonight.
Have a good balance of the weekend everyone.

That’s fine. Just don’t come in here pretending that you don’t want Trump to win.

The reality is you would rather have Trump than any Democrat who is actually going to run.

Like I said, we’ve seen this song and dance before. It’s spineless.

You say that you oppose Trump and that you do not want him to be the Republican candidate in 2024, yet you wouldn't take one simple, easy step to try to prevent it when it comes down to it. Why not? Is it because you think a non-Manchin/Gabbard Democrat is worse?

Well, I posed a direct question to you wondering if you could elaborate on what parts of the 'Build Back Better' plan revealed Biden to be something other than moderate or just name some of other Biden's policies that would suggest that. I'm not sure why you keep emphasizing that you're only here to pass the time and mildly entertain yourself. Most people do it for the same reasons so there's no need to clarify.

This is Day One for me here. A brand new member posting for the first time.
Anyway....I am a conservative who voted for Trump in the general election, but not in the primary.
Once he got in office I liked the policies and the results he got here at home as well as interntionally.....but....I never liked him. To this day that is still the case.
In Nov. of 2024, if he is the Republican nominee I will vote for him...but I sure hope Trump is NOT the Republican nominee. I think the country would move forward so much better without such a polarizing president as Trump.
Does anyone else agree or relate to how I have expressed myself?

Also, Steve, you seem oddly inconsistent as above is your first post on the forum where you say, despite not liking Trump, you would vote for him in 2024. Now you're saying you wouldn't.
