This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

    Michael Bloomberg is smart.
He presents himself in a measured and reasonable manner.
    I respect him.
    ......and you?
Oh' me.... I'm smart and I present myself in a measured and reasonable manner as well. I do wear a mask at gas stations so I don't fume or infringe on anyone else. I've been fully vaccinated and dusted for fleas, even been dipped within the last year.

And this is really big news, I shaved my beard off last week, so my mask would seal well, so I could get out and go to the big city where I went to a big store for parts.

    ......and yourself?

I don't bother to go into detail about fleas or whatever. Yet I will mention that I'm fully vaccinated just like you.
So anyway...WE don't matter on a national level. Michael Bloomberg is not as big a deal as he used to be, but his views carry a bit more weight than ours.

I just don’t know how these people can justify this:

Saw this somewhere: if Republicans cannot stand up to Trump, how can we trust them to stand up to Putin or Xi? And it’s painfully obvious they cannot find the moral backbone to stand up to Trump.

Even when he promotes the overthrow of a free and fair election. Even when he sides with a murderous dictator who is right now bombing civilians in Europe. Even when he lies about elections being “rigged”. They cannot stand up to him, how will they ever be able to stand up for us in any way at all?

There is a serious rot in the Republican Party:

That's pretty good. Normally posts by Democrats make me shake my head but you certainly have my attention. I post INfrequently here because I do not like to spend time arguing with fellow posters. Normally I say what I have to say and then go back to spending time with my wife and pursuing other interests.
ANYWAY.....as a Republican conservative who does NOT like Trump, I am sure hoping that someone with major name recognition and some charisma WILL stand up to Trump. I am hoping that "regular" conservatives who are not politicians will tell pollsters that they do NOT support him for a 2024 candidate. AND....IF Trump does run I hope he loses.
I want someone who will appeal to the moderates and the independents. If Trump is elected then we'll go back to all the polarization we had for four years when he was in office.....kinda like the polarization we have now w/ Biden.

You shouldn’t assume that I am an automatic Democrat. I was raised and taught to vote independently. My mother taught me to evaluate candidates for their own character and policy positions and ignore their party status. The first time I ever voted a straight party ticket in my entire life for any election was in 2020. And I will do it again unless Republicans can do some sort of massive turnaround. The party disgusts me morally. There are so many ‘regular’ conservatives who are acting like buffoons trying to be like Trump. The party is tolerating members of Congress and state Republican leaders speaking at White Nationalist conventions.

The first time I ever donated to any politician was in 2020, when I made 2 or 3 smallish donations to Biden. I will do so again. I am so thankful that Biden is president during this current crisis. Trump would have been cheering Putin on from the WH. Trump spent 4 years publicly undermining NATO, he’s far too inept to be POTUS.

Really what? I'm assuming you think Biden is a radical liberal? History and facts simply don't bear that position out. Maybe you can help me out and name who you consider to be moderate Democrats?
Biden's Build Back America Plan didn't pass, but it sure didn't fit into the category of "moderate".

Thanks for your post. I read every word. Checking out of a hotel. No time to say which parts I agree with and which parts I don't....for now....just "thanks and have a great day" :)

Russian media literally using Tucker Carlson clips to say americans support them. Pompeo too.

I actually think both of them are traitors along with Trump and his inner circle, hoping that Karma catches up to them one day....

Actually tells you all you need to know about him....I'm not an automatic Democrat either, but they are the only party that has retained some level of sanity.....

It's funny how in an environment well-stocked with people who despise the GOP, hardly anyone comes out and says "I'm a Democrat."
The DNC has so completely lost the branding battle, even Democrats won't associate with it.

If my choice is either democrat or Republican, I would not hesitate to choose democrat. That doesn’t mean I give every democrat politician a pass, there are more than a few that I’m not that fond of. I’ve thought of myself as independent my entire life. Until Trump. Ive been morally disgusted by him and the party’s obsequiousness to him from the minute he launched his campaign. Except for Cheney and Kinzinger, the rest of them don’t have to courage to say what needs to be said, and they are damaging our entire system of government by remaining silent.

MTG tried to play off her speaking appearance at a White Nationalist rally

    Here’s the problem with that:
