I’m sure much of us are having 2016 flashbacks this morning with a sick feeling to our stomachs..

2 of the last 3 elections Democrats have lost to a far right demagogue

Harris didn’t get close in many states to even Biden’s performance. We could very well lose the Presidency, Senate AND House depending on results the next few days…..

    What went wrong?
    What could’ve been done better?
What can we change in the future to ensure voters are motivated like they were when Obama was elected?

Democrats have no choice but to admit there’s a huge problem with some aspect of their platform— and to do a deep introspection of what’s going wrong..

Good…if this forces the reconstruction of the Democratic Party, I’m all for it. It gives time to refocus and figure out the leadership and direction the party desperately needs.

I hope the Democratic party moves more in the direction of Zohran Mamdani, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. They aren't flawless or infallible, but the direction they want to take us is a hell of a lot better for the vast majority of Americans than the direction that the party has been headed.

    Yes.

The ancient, misguided, lay over and take it, gilded leadership can take a hike. Let the new blood in.

I don't see how Sanders (who's a Democrat when it's convenient for him, and 100 years old), Warren, Waltz, Harris are "new blood". And Both Harris and Waltz laid over and took it the last election cycle. Waltz had a brief moment with the "weird" thing, but was too nice to escalate, then doubled down on the nice in the post-election interviews.

Mamdani is too new, no track record, a professed socialist and Muslim, a combination that doesn't sit well with most of the U.S.; NYC Dems, sure, we'll see what happens in the mayoral election there.

You really do demand a lot of unnecessary machismo from your politicians.

Unnecessary is bad. That being said, Republicans have made this into bloodsport. We don’t need machismo, we do need people to understand that this is war. Age is not a barrier to success. Sclerotic thinking and paying attention to guardrails that not only aren’t there anymore but have been recycled in beer cans are not what we need. When we engage in war the end goal must be victory. In the case of fighting against MAGA I would add total and utter destruction of the Republican Party such that it is cast into the dustbin of history as an aberration.

How do you go from me saying they are too nice to you claiming I demand a lot of unnecessary machismo from my politicians?

I'll tell you this, though: bullies don't stop until you punch them in the mouth, and punching a bully in the mouth, isn't unnecessary, it's what needs to be done. And weakness? Weakness is not a trait that your average 'Murican appreciates.

It's because the peoeple listed are weird mash-up of ideology, and age. Sanders, Warren, and AOC would be considered a new direction vs the current third way Democrats that have ran the party since the 90's.

AIPAC, and billionaires are viewed less favorably by the base, and candidates taking their money can/will be attacked - possibly primaried.

For a long time, the establishment Dems have tried to sell the base on "good billionaires". Those days are over.

I'll make another prediction. Obama is on his last wisp of good will with a big portion of the base. If he decides to try to pick the next presidential candidate, the knives are going to come out.

FYI: I think Harris did an admirable job as candidate. However, she is not a natural politican. I won't be shocked if she runs for governor and loses.

From my perspective, I just see more of what I've seen for a decade.
Whatever direction you think it's being taken, the question is, can it win elections? That's the important part. And it doesn't look like it.

Good or bad billionaires, if liberals turn on them, where's the campaigning money going to come from? If the DNC doesn't know how to use effecively the money they get from those billionaires, how well are they going to do with no money?

And primaried or not primaried, the goal is to win the seat in Congress and the White House.

From my perspective, Harris was a terrible job as a candidate, because she's not a natural politician, and she tried to be one, a nice one at that, and failed badly.

It is an indictment on the DNC, that the best political speech running up to the election came from an Obama, and it wasn't Barack. Not to mention the Biden circus.

I agree and I think it's absurd to perceive Harris and Walz as laying down for Trump. That's just absurd and fear motivated macho chest thumping.

    Don't pretend you don't know.

I'll tell you this, though: bullies don't stop until you punch them in the mouth, and punching a bully in the mouth, isn't unnecessary,...
Throughout my life several people have tried to bully me, as I'm sure we have all experienced. Not once did I let them bully or harm me, and not once did I have to throw a single punch to stop them. You couldn't be more wrong about this and your way is just a path to perpetual cycle of violence and intimidation.

With one childhood bully in particular, he tried to bully me and I just quietly stood my ground. We ended up getting along after that. Another kid punched him, that kid got beaten down and ended up getting bullied harder and more often.

And weakness? Weakness is not a trait that your average 'Murican appreciates.
Neither do you. You think you do, but you don't. Hopefully, you'll discover and appreciate what true strength is someday. Until that day, I hope the energy you put out doesn't come right back at you.

    Who are you? My wife?

    Cool story. Good for you.

However, that was a figure of speech... lest you think I expected Harris or Waltz to physically punch Trump in the mouth? :ROFLMAO:

    Neither do you.

Yeah, I don't appreciate weakness. What's the point here?

You think you do, but you don't.

Wait.. you are saying that I think I appreciate weakness, but I don't? WTF :ROFLMAO:

Hopefully, you'll discover and appreciate what true strength is someday. Until that day, I hope the energy you put out doesn't come right back at you.

Ok, Sensei. Should I go wax on wax off now?
When I grow up, I want to be just like you!!! :hihi:

Yeah, I don't appreciate weakness. What's the point here?

You think you know what and understand what strength and weakness are, but you don't. Live by fear based aggression, die by fear based aggressed. That's just a saying. It's not literal.

Why didn't you post the rest? Here, let me do it for you:

You had clearly misunderstood what I said, because you mistakenly assume I was using the admire and value usage of appreciate. I only posted the definition of appreciation I was using so you would understand how I was using it so you would correctly understand what I had written.

We both knew that you were using appreciate in the sense of admire and value. There was no need for me to post that definition and all of the other definitions were irrelevant to what we were saying.

This isn't the "gotcha" you think it is.
