I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

California attorney regulators said on Thursday they will seek to disbar attorney John Eastman over his involvement in former US president Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

The state bar of California charged Eastman, a former personal lawyer to Trump, with 11 counts of ethics violations, including misleading courts and making false public statements about voter fraud in the 2020 election.

Eastman participated in a strategy “unsupported by facts or law” to obstruct the count of presidential electors in Congress following Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory, the bar’s complaint said…….

He absolutely needs to be disbarred. At least with Nixon's lawyers, their argument on executive privilege was not flatly wrong and a misrepresentation of law - it was unsettled and their position, though contrary to American democracy and federalism, still had merit from a certain perspective of executive power.

Eastman's plan misrepresented election law and sought only to provide legal cover to a deliberate coup to avoid the result of a presidential election and obstruct the peaceful transfer of power that is a hallmark of the American system. fork that guy - he has no business practicing law.

The campaign paid researchers from Berkeley Research Group, the people said, to study 2020 election results in six states, looking for fraud and irregularities to highlight in public and in the courts.

Among the areas examined were voter machine malfunctions, instances of dead people voting and any evidence that could help Trump show he won, the people said. None of the findings were presented to the public or in court.


About a dozen people at the firm worked on the report, including econometricians, who use statistics to model and predict outcomes, the people said. The work was carried out in the final weeks of 2020, before the Jan. 6 riot of Trump supporters at the U.S. Capitol.

Trump continues to falsely assert that the 2020 election was stolen despite abundant evidence to the contrary, much of which had been provided to him or was publicly available before the Capitol assault.

The Trump campaign’s commissioning of its own report to study the then-president’s fraud claims has not been previously reported.


“They looked at everything: change of addresses, illegal immigrants, ballot harvesting, people voting twice, machines being tampered with, ballots that were sent to vacant addresses that were returned and voted,” said a person familiar with the work who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private research and meetings.

“Literally anything you could think of. Voter turnout anomalies, date of birth anomalies, whether dead people voted. If there was anything under the sun that could be thought of, they looked at it.”……..

I hope that this can be used in court against him. If you pay for an independent study and it shoots down all of your claims and you decide to ignore it and continue to lie about it, then that information should be able to be used to show that you indeed knew the truth and chose to ignore it. It would be nice if this could be used against Fox News in their defamation lawsuit.

Bad lawyer take here, but I think this helps with potential prosecution related to intent. Aides may have said they told Trump and Meadows. However, this is definitive proof that they are fully aware with evidence presented to them by a company they commissioned that they knew w/o a doubt that the election was lost. The blatant and open propagandizing between Republicans and Fox News/Tucker Carlson and right wing media overall is so bad for this country. And it is at critical mass. We literally have a huge swath of our population that is activated by all of these forces (all for the sake of power) and that are throwing our country into a tailspin. The Republican base mentality is highjacked, controlled and compliant to this propaganda and thirst for power as large portions of Russian and Chinese citizens are to their respective leaders and governments.

I don't know what happens, but those leaked text showed the definition of audience capture.

I fear for the future more then most. Demographics, and Republicans unwillingness to change vs overthrowing democracy means we have an insanely high chance of Jan. 6 being a dress rehearsal.

I know people like MT15 don't like to talk about, but everyone should understand, that as a voting block, the people under 40 are vastly more liberal those those over 40. Also, the younger generations are more educated, but have far less money then the older generations at this point in their lives. They are also not converting to conservative ideology, because they have no reason to keep the status quo. As Silents, and Boomers die off, what are Republicans going to do?
