I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Good. Charge anyone who committed crimes. Until then, not many people are buying the January 6th narrative unless they get all their news from the corporate media.
Are you speaking of the “narrative” that was created by sworn testimony of Trump Administration members? That “narrative”? Lol.

And yet, the majority of Republican voters buy the fairy tale of a stolen election, even though there is zero evidence to support that belief and overwhelming proof that the election was not stolen.

The "many people" you speak of saw what happened on Jan 6, the media didn't make that up and the "many people" you speak of have seen the work of the Jan 6 House Committee and they call it illegitimate. Perhaps some people refuse to believe anything that goes against what they have been told to believe by their chosen puppet masters.
The many people know it was a riot that got out of hand and not a coup attempt.

This doesn’t make sense. A riot is already out of hand, by definition, lol.

Also, we know that there were people there to protest who ended up rioting. But we also know there were people there who planned to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power. Who knew they would be entering the Capitol that day and prepared for it. Who had caches of weapons stored where they could be easily retrieved. Who came with weapons, and used them against the police officers.

Saying this wasn’t an insurrection just ignores the objective truth.

How are you defining coup in this instance that the events of 1-6 don't meet the criteria?
Apparently, a coup only counts if it was professionly done with pescise and documented planning.

Oops i accidently tried to violently stop the certification of the presidential election.. They went to the capitol with one thing in mind, which was to stop the certification of the election (whether they believed the election lies is irrelevent). Most of them did get duped into joining in the coup, that much i can agree on. But some were there specifically to try a coup and stop the election. just because they accidently took part in a poorly planned coup attempt, doesn't mean it wasn't an attempt..
Every single person that entered the capitol grounds should be considered a traitor in the eyes of the citizens..

No. They know it was a coup attempt, it just didn't succeed. They would have been all to happy with installing Trump as their president had the coup attempt succeeded.

But since it failed, they go with a "riot that got out of hand".

You know that as well, it just doesn't fit into your hardcore "All Democrats are evil and corrupt" beliefs, so you argue otherwise.

Yes he's lying.. to himself, to us, something..but he's full of it.

The funniest thing about it all is that if they would have succeeded in stopping the certification on Jan 6, then on inauguration day NANCY PELOSI would have been sworn into office because she would have been the only elected official left in the line of succession on Jan 20, 2021. There would not have been enough time to have Congress or SCOTUS to do anything the settle any disputes over the election results and Trump's term ended on Jan 20, 2021.

That makes sense, except at that point they were all convinced Donalt Trump was gonna continue being President, hell a lot of those there that day still believe he is secretly preisdent now..

Peripherally related, SCOTUS actually did something useful by saying Graham can't avoid testifying. Good. Can't wait to see him squirm on the hot seat.

Supreme Court denies Sen. Lindsey Graham's request to avoid testifying in Georgia election interference case

The rioter who declared in a video that she would murder House Speaker Nancy Pelosi if she found the Democratic leader during the January 6 attack on the US Capitol is due to be released from prison this week.

Dawn Bancroft was sentenced to 60 days incarceration and three years of probation for her role in the January 6 attack.

During her departure, she made her intentions clear in a selfie-style video during which she declared that she wanted “to shoot her in the fricking brain”, referring to the House leader whom she had named seconds earlier……

Another SCOTUS sort of decision. Roberts basically said House Ways and Means would need to give justification by November 10th for why they need access to Trump's tax returns. This is related to the committee's review of how the IRS audits Presidential taxes.

Supreme Court blocks Congress getting Trump tax returns

    Yep gonna be fun.

The fifth or say something that should send him to jail.

I am gonna love watching either way
