I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

There is so much to find out about the events of January 6. Republicans who vote against this commission should be hounded out of office as complicit.

Wouldn't that be up the people who voted to put there, otherwise, you are tip toeing on the line to authoritarianism? Or is that really point and you just said the quiet part out loud?

Of course it's up to the people who put them there. If they ignore the dereliction of duty on the part of their reps, then they're complicit as well.

I sure hope everyone votes how you guys want them too, otherwise it can be.......what the term the left loves lately......'problematic'

What is even more wild is a few days back I saw a poll where 72% of the republicans who responded blamed Jan 6th on leftist protestors and only like 25% blamed Trump for it. That is some kind of mind-boggling unreality going on.

if they really believed that why do so many not want there to be an independent investigation?

wouldn’t they LOVE it to be proven that antifa masterminded and manipulated the whole thing?

I am fine with a investigation but who will be investigating? The Dems? It won't be an investigation, it will be a Mueller probe all over again. You can't cry wolf for 4 years and then expect people (well, most that don't pay attention) to believe you.

You do realize the proposed investigation is split evenly between Democrats and Republicans on the committee right?

Isn't a bureaucratic agency investigating this already? Seems so since people are still in jail and are being rounded up as we speak.

It wasn't going to be 'independent' and non-partisan. Everyone really deep down already knows this.

Actually Dem policies are very popular and Biden is more popular then your hero ever was. Like ever. Biden’s lowest is still like 4 points higher than the Orange’s best.

And it is sad you don’t even know what the commission was. The R’s gave their ridiculous demands and Pelosi agreed to them. All of them. The cowards balked anyway.

Oh and one more thing- I named the squirrel I ran over today Ashli Babbit. That way two worthless lifeless sacks of flesh have the same name!

This happened before over and over when Obama tried to compromise with them. He would compromise in hopes to get something done, (R) would dig their heels in and rake him over the coals regardless. (D) needs to wake up and realize there is no compromise with those people.

Well, son of a gun. The idea that Babbitt was murdered and is a martyr comes from some very bad people. Some people that could be called radical racists even.

“In this manner, following the Capitol Hill insurrection, Ashli Babbitt has been made into a new martyr figure, not for QAnon, but for “white America”: White Power movements, National Socialist, Accelerationists, Boogaloo movements, Militias, Neo-Nazis, and others seeking to supplant the federal government.”
