I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

    Absolute immunity has returned...

I wish just one time Barack Obama had used the term "absolute immunity"

the right would have self combusted

He did a hell of a lot more than contest the election. Absolutely no one had a problem with contesting the election. What most had a problem with was the manner of contesting, and when his options ran out, acted like a spoiled, entitled child.

As for his Jan 6 speech, he should be held accountable for telling his followers to "fight like hell", which was clearly irresponsible, and probably enough to incite the riot/insurrection.

And, I'm pretty sure absolute immunity isn't a thing anyway.

His lawyer can argue that all day. We'll see what the court decides on that.

Hmmm, this particular insurrectionist was in contact with Cruz? 🤔 What could it mean? Lol.

‘An Alabama man charged with bringing five loaded firearms and 11 molotov cocktails with napalm-like properties to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 approached Sen. Ted Cruz’s Washington home and office weeks earlier to discuss “election fraud” and previously joined an armed-citizen camp at the Texas border, new court filings alleged Monday.

The new U.S. allegations came in a federal judge’s ruling ordering the continued detention of Lonnie Leroy Coffman, of Falkville, Ala., citing evidence that he had potential plans to coordinate with others and was prepared for political violence.’

Only Democrats should be accused of being who they associate with. With Republicans its just because we are associated, doesn't mean anything..lol
I love how the "party of accountability" doesn't really like their own standards..

Got to keep that boogey man of fear going to get those votes. This will become just as political driven as the Mueller probe. Get the popcorn ready. I at least hope we get to the know the name of the murder cop that killed an unarmed woman. The only death caused by the self guided tour.

This tweet is from a man who was radicalized by ISIS in his youth and escaped. I hope (sincerely) that we can read this and recognize what is happening to the folks on the right who are currently in this process. The post above this illustrates a sign of ongoing radicalization.

Those talking points have been hammered into you. And Trump smiles a big smile. #KeepOnSheeping

More about how the theme of persecution is central to the task of radicalizing a person or group of people.

An insurrectionist was killed trying to breach a perimeter after being warned by armed police to stay back. She knew the risks. She went anyway. Even her companion warned her to get back. She was no different than a suicide bomber for ISIS. Radicalized past the point of rational thought.

who was killed during the 'insurrection'?

An insurrectionist named Ashli Babbit, who, along with a group of people intent on disrupting the proceedings by any means possible, including violence and death, was attempting to prevent elected officials from carrying out their duties by entering an area barricaded by armed law enforcement personnel that were attempting to protect said elected officials from said violent mob.

Thanks for keeping this civil and not personal. Very mature of you.....well done....

Feel free to discuss this with me or you can give the canned answer written by the media pundits if you prefer, that seems to the easiest (besides personal attacks of course, but you seem to be proficient with those).

I was told just a few months ago that 7 or 9 people were killed because of the riots. I stated that this was not true, but then I was told I was a <insert menacing music> "Qanon"- the phantom menace, conspiracy theorist.
I remember the left, the same ones that compare cops to slave hunters and racist executioners, holding up the officer that was.........checking notes..... "beat to death with a fire extinguisher" by terrorists as a patriot and a martyr against white supremacy.

So, now the only death cause by the bloody insurrection, that we lovingly call the '6th', is of an unarmed woman with video that shows verbal commands were not issued. No body cam footage released. No disclosure of the officers name that murdered an unarmed female. If I have learned anything from watching all the 'murders' of unarmed black males, the information of the officer should be released to the public and soon.

At some point, after just about every media talking point falls apart after some time and then the media makes everyone pivot from the original narrative, people would look back and realize they were wrong and manipulated? I just don't see that or do I understand it. They constantly move the goal post on you all and you just accept it and don't even question it why your original talking points that you defended with such vigor are now not validate and you have defend a new narrative.

So you believe everything that occurred on the 6th was legal. (Except the shooting of someone who was just touring the building) Yes or no. Do you think all the people being charged should be found not guilty.

Media always blows crap up from both sides to sells ads and gets viewership. I will give you that much. With that aside, there is something terrible that happened in the capitol beyond a protest. A desecration of the capitol that hadn’t happen since the British in the War of 1812. Those people weren’t peacefully touring the capitol and their intent was to disrupt a governmental proceeding.

Hundreds of people with crude weapons and bear mace conspired to overrun cops and barricades to storm the U.S. capitol in order to stop the electoral process from happening. The federal government that was attacked negotiated a bipartisan commission to investigate how it happened. Your party -- whose politics now largely align with the attackers -- has now convinced you that the commission that *they helped create* is a partisan endeavor with no other purpose but to win votes. In your mind, do you leave room for any possibility that they're the ones that are acting in bad faith?
