I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Another officer who responded on Jan 6 has committed suicide, on Jan. 15, looks like it is coming out just now. How awful. I also read today about some of the injuries, which were horrific. One officer will or did lose an eye. Brain injuries, really terrible stuff.

Like after a school shooting, there needs to be a flooding of mental health professionals sent there.

He did vote in Indiana and used the Governor’s residence as his “home address”. 🤷‍♀️ You wouldn’t think that would be kosher, but apparently it’s okay for him to use an address where he hasn‘t lived for four years and that doesn’t belong to him.

Yeah, I had forgotten about that. He was apparently allowed to do it, so.

I'm baffled. what was he arrested for ?
Likely doesn't have a DC permit.

Washington, D.C. is a shall-issue district with concealed weapons permits issued by D.C. Metropolitan Police.

All firearms must be registered, and this process acts as a permit to purchase. Individuals cannot possess ammunition without a valid registration of a firearm.

Open carry is illegal in D.C.

District of Columbia Concealed Carry Pistol Licenses (CCPLs) are required in order to concealed carry and are issued to residents and non-residents and require a firearms training course that has been approved by the Metro Police. You must be at least 21 years old to get a concealed carry permit in D.C. Any firearm you plan on carrying in Washington D.C. will also need to be registered in the District. In addition, possession of ammunition for an unregistered firearm is prohibited in the District of Columbia. Some areas are off-limits even with a D.C. CCPL, including schools, public memorials on the National Mall and along the Tidal Basin and the area around the White House. In terms of reciprocity, Washington D.C. does not honor CCW licenses from any other state.

    EDIT: Yup, I was right.

He was placed under arrest and taken to CPD headquarters for processing, authorities said.

Westover has been charged with carrying a handgun without a license, possession of unregistered ammunition, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

I don't have a link, but there seems to be an upcoming bulletin about credible threats of domestic terrorist violence.

It's been interesting to hear how much the GOP is twisting this to their usual chant of "it's no big deal". Trying to use Biden's comments about "Unity" against him. I like it to an Abuser who complains that his wife isn't giving him another chance...

the abuser comment is valid. I saw a tweet that I’m sure I could never find again, but here’s my best recollection.

‘I see Republicans have gone from the trying to kill us while black out drunk stage of abuse, to the crying outside our locked door because we won’t be nice to them stage.’

    A very good question
