Trump Election Interference / Falsification of Business Records Criminal Trial (Trump guilty on all 34 Counts) (2 Viewers)

Users who are viewing this thread

What will happen now that former President Donald Trump was found guilty (in 34 counts) by the jury?
*
Speculation on the judge relating to sentencing?
*
Appeals?
*
Political Damage?
*

On what basis will it be overturned? The proof was overwhelming. He clearly paid off someone to keep damaging information from getting out right before the election and then fraudulently called it a legal expense. The case was proven.
If that’s true then you have nothing to worry about. To me it was clearly political. A misdemeanor reporting violation at best blown into 34 felony counts by a biased politically motivated DA who ran on the promise to get Trump. What cracks me up is all the Dems running around afraid that Trump will do to them what they have been doing to him for years.

If you fear weaponization of the courts then perhaps they shouldn’t have gone there to begin with.

If this is such a heinous felonious crime, why no punishment? Zip. Zero. Nada. If he is such a bad man and the case was so strong and the crimes so egregious, why no punishment? Why wait to sentence him in the first place?

We have many problems to solve. Tell me why I should worry about this misdemeanor reporting violation all these Dems say are heinous felonious crimes. This is the same party that ridiculed the GOP for going after Clinton for getting a blowjob in the Oval Office. Obvious hypocrisy.

Please explain why Michael Cohen is now a convicted felon?

How so? It's a state charge. It will be appealed to the NY Apellate court. What federal issue is involved that would
allow a U.S. district court to overturn it? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see a NY court overturning the conviction
The falsification of records misdemeanors statute of limitations had expired. Only way to resurrect was prove an additional crime occurred which would raise it to a felony.

The judge didn’t require an unanimous verdict by the jury, on an additional predicate crime, required to elevate the statute of limitations expired misdemeanor of falsification of records, to a felony.

6th amendment requires unanimous jury verdict. So federal.

It was a plea deal. He knew he was dead to rights guilty on tax evasion and going to jail, so he wasn’t going to spend a million dollars just to fight a bogus campaign contribution charge.

I hope you’re aware there is no limit on campaign contributions by the candidates.

You’re miss-stating this. This trial was done by the book, there isn’t a requirement for a unanimous verdict on that part of the case by NY state law. The additional crime explicitly occurred.

So, we are supposed to ignore the FACT that he was convicted for FEC violations and his unindicted co-conspirator "Individual One" remains a mystery?

I’m not worried about anything about this case. Trump is so clearly a criminal that this case is actually peanuts compared to his lifelong crime spree. Just like Capone, sometimes the system has to take what they can get.

He obviously deserved some form of punishment, but the fact that he won the election made that not practically possible.

He maligned the judge, the prosecutor, lied about the judge’s daughter, tampered openly with witnesses. I think the judge showed remarkable restraint.

And the irony of anyone on the conservative side saying any single thing about weaponization of the justice system in defense of Trump is really thick. Rather than being a “victim” Trump is the ultimate perpetrator. He’s been using the justice system to punish his enemies his entire life. And getting away with it. He’s the poster child for how unequal justice in America truly is.

“There can be no question either that the Sixth Amendment’s unanimity requirement applies to state and federal criminal trials equally. This Court has long explained that the Sixth Amendment right to a jury trial is “fundamental to the American scheme of justice” and incorporated against the States under the Fourteenth Amendment.[23] This Court has long explained, too, that incorporated provisions of the Bill of Rights bear the same content when asserted against States as they do when asserted against the federal government.[24] So if the Sixth Amendment’s right to a jury trial requires a unanimous verdict to support a conviction in federal court, it requires no less in state court.”

Ramos vs Louisiana

Cohen's conviction proves there was a crime committed which was directly related to trump's conviction.

It’s no mystery. It’s trump.

Would you spend a million dollars to dispute an fec violation knowing full well you are guilty of the tax charge and going to jail? Neither would Cohen. The prosecutor piled on and cohen copped a plea.

It’s not an fec violation for the candidate. The candidate has no contribution limits.

But was it a campaign contribution or was it a "campaign contribution"?

Why are you so willing to ignore an individuals' complete lack of integrity? trump has repeatedly run a foul of the law while banking on the fact that his criminal acts have been routinely ignored by others because of...reasons.

We have been told that laws are there to promote good order and impose punishment when those laws are violated. It has been shown that our failure to hold this convict accountable only emboldened him to escalate his criminal activities.

It was the prosecutor piling on, knowing it wouldn’t be contested.

Certainly wasn’t a campaign contribution violation by the candidate.
