The middle makes the difference once again. Why?

McAuliffe made an error with the school issue to appease the CRT crowd. A costly strategic error.

On another note CNN described Michelle Wu a moderate as the first woman of color to be mayor. The media recruiting minorities.

You really can't have it both ways. When you win it can't be an affirmation that that a moderate approach is correct, and prudent. Then when you lose it's because of those pesky progressives. Terry was not a progressive, his losing has nothing to do with progressives. It was one progressive policy for defunding the police in Minneapolis that lost. How does that set a narrative for the entire night?

No wonder, no one watches CNN anymore.

CRT is very depressing and causes hopelessness. CRT is best taught in graduate school. Children should be taught history as it was without the concept that the entire system is racist and there is no hope.

That's your Republican boogeyman definition of CRT. However, it's not the real definition.

It doesn't teach that "the entire system is racist". It teaches that race has had a major impact on our society, history, and institutions. I don't know why any intelligent, reasonable American would have a problem with this.

    YAWN

This election means nothing to the DNC, this was all about the State of Virginia, the SWING state that has always SWUNG!!! The D's flipped the state on both Reagan and Bush's 1st term and once again on Trump's only term. The R's did the same thing to Clinton and Obama, so...meh!

The real problem for the D's is that they need to find a way to maintain voter turnout during off year elections. Turnout for the Presidential Election in VA was 76% and while this Gubernatorial election ticked up from their last election, it looks as though voter turnout is going to be within the 50% range.

I did not record the TV show Brandon. However, I bet other left wing outlets likely described her as a woman of color. Whether they say colored or color makes no difference to me. I believe it is poor form.
I’m just trying to get clarification.

Is “colored woman” an exact quote from CNN, or were those your words?

Is POC the same as a colored person? I do not recall what exactly what was said, but I thought it was in poor taste. I do not see Asians as POC.

You will now say that the "colored" is bad but POC is good. I think that is baloney.

I asked an Asian friend if she sees herself as a POC and she was adamant against that label. She felt that those on the left are trying to form a coalition of anyone that is not white versus those that are white. It is a divisive tactic to single out white people as oppressors and POC as victims. Otherwise why include the Asians in the POC category? Heck, why must the American left classify people according to looks, skin and ethnicity?

You will say: We need statistics to know if POC are oppressed. I have news for you. Asians are doing way better than whites.

It looks like the Democrats will continue their winning message.

I guess is surprising to you that some minorities feel that way when they see results like this and the explanations that where given by voters for their votes. 😶

They should probably be silenced by larger democratic party so that nobody feels uncomfortable.

So you called her a colored woman, not CNN. Thanks for clarifying.

Old, tired, and hollow? Really? That's what you think of 1/6? That's what you think of a partly that treats Trump as the king, to whom you have to profess fealty or be shun by the party? Is that what you think of elected officials actively trying to undermine our lawful electoral process and the U.S. Constitution to prop up their dear leader?
    Yes.
I think everyone will be better off if they just simply bow and worship at the alter of Trump. It is the human condition. Embrace the wisdom that God put on the earth as his shepherd. All hail Trump!

And what are the real issues? Deny abortion to every woman, 0 tolerance? A gun strapped on every every man, woman, and child? Prayer/creationism in schools? Fight against science? The sanctity of bathrooms? Keeping confederate monuments?
Yes. This will be a good start. I would also like to see statues of Trump erected in every town square, maybe outside the Trump shrine but just to the right of the Trump museum and library. Also, in the library there will only be the bible. No science hearsay or any of that new age bull skirt. Just several thousand bibles for the masses, and all the Harry Potter books, because we Trumpians love the literature.

Ok Mr Centrist, where is the center of what happened on Jan 6?

Surely you have some idea of where it is you are telling us to go?
    Be like Joe Manchin.
Jan 6 was a bunch of mentally mentally challenged rednecks. The left thinks they can get a lot of mileage from that. But, I believe they get much more if they come to the center.

    That isn't a position.

What is the centrist position with regard to how we deal with what happened on Jan 6.

    Do nothing?

    Investigate and prosecute?

    Something else?

I posted this years ago on the PDB (2017)

1.2 Million more people voted in Virginia in 2020 - and based on zero evidence I'm assuming the majority of those voted Biden

Part of it is it's an off year election, turnout is always lower

I think Trump being out of office is a huge part of it, which probably led to a 'mission accomplished' mindset - so there was a lack of the daily outrage that Trump provided

Whether McAuliffe is a progressive or moderate, doesn't really matter - he's a career politician, and in McAuliffe's case it's literally a case of 'been there, done that' so there was no excitement or energy around him

The comment about parents and schools was gift wrapped
    ======================================================================
I have actually been wanting to post this for a long time, I just never got around to it.

This has nothing to do with Trump, or ideologies, and I'm not looking for this conversation to get heated, It's something I've always wondered about

Taurus' quote is something that's been mentioned in many threads here over the years as well in the media

I saw an interview with Bernie last year (Bill Maher maybe?) when he said "When Voter Turnout is high, Democrats win, when turnout is low Republicans win"

and it surprised me more than it should have

    Republican Voters vote:

If they have the White House, they vote

If they don't have the White House, they vote

If they control Congress, they vote

If they don't control Congress they vote

If they are excited about their candidate/incumbent, they vote

If they are "meh" about their candidate/incumbent, they vote

If they think things are headed in the right direction, they vote

If they think things are headed in the wrong direction, they vote

    Why is that?

It seems to be pretty consistent across the board, as @Taurus said:

    They also vote. Religiously.

The only way to do anything substantive about this is for the rest of us to vote.

They talk about taking our country back...that's how you do it. You vote in every election for every position from dog catcher to POTUS. Even the off-years. Even the special elections. Even when it's inconvenient.

National elections, local, midterm, doesn't matter Republican turnout is always good

    Anyone know why that is?

and why democrat voters seem to have to be more excited than they've ever been for a massive turnout?

There is little to be gained from Jan 6.
    Become a centrist.

    Down with tribalism!
There is much to be gained from 1/6 and preventing it from actually succeeding the next time they try it. If you think becoming a centrist is going to make any meaningful change in how anything works in DC today, your head is in the sand.

    So you say do nothing.

So in your mind, the centrist position is to do nothing.

Which happens to be the same position as the extreme right.

I think we get an idea of where you think the center is.

For a lefty the center seems like the right wing.

    Matthew 7:1-5

    ChapterParallelCompare
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

    I don't mind being judged.
