The middle makes the difference once again. Why?

McAuliffe made an error with the school issue to appease the CRT crowd. A costly strategic error.

On another note CNN described Michelle Wu a moderate as the first woman of color to be mayor. The media recruiting minorities.

No, Paul. The algorithms are suggesting hateful speech. They are not blocking it. And 1A doesn’t apply to FB, YouTube or Twitter.

FB did their own study, where they created a fake profile, gave it an identity that supported Trump, identified as Christian and conservative, IIRC. They had it “like” some conservative pages and within 3 days FB’s algorithm was pointing it to QAnon and other hateful pages.

That’s a big problem. It also happens on YouTube, I listened to a podcast years ago that featured a young man that had joined a neo-Nazi group online. He detailed how he started out listening to simple self-help videos, and videos about how to meet girls, and gradually YouTube pointed him towards hate.

Their algorithms are trash, they know it but they care about profit over human decency.

Sure, the private companies can ban anyone or fire a person from a job with no excuse. However, the googles, et al have the ability to control the agenda in the population They know what all of us do. If you browse an electric bicycle the next time you sit at the computer you are bombarded with bike commercials in almost every site you visit. When you want to shop in Amazon and do a search they control what merchandise you get to see and what merchandise you will never see. A lot of You Tube videos get block.

People get radicalized all the time on the left, the right, and in religion. However, in the name of free speech we cannot censor everything.

You realize that free speech doesn't apply to private companies, right?

    Have fun!

    Truth or Social Justice?

That is a fools choice if I ever saw one. Why does the Truth prevent social Justice? Why would Social Justice ruin the truth? So idiotic. It shows a complete lack of reasoned thought, which could easily navigate all of that.

"I can only do good deeds, if I lie all the time".

Good point CM. Whenever you make a good point I let you know. However, I was asked for references by another poster. You have a learned a lot from me grasshopper, I am proud.

I told the poster colleges are indoctrinating kids in in social justice. The biggest proof is that some colleges now advertised themselves as social justice colleges.. here is a list.

That list is not them advertising anything.

The point is that there are many colleges where the teaching puts emphasis on social justice. College is supposed to be a place where all ideas are studied and considered.
Many colleges are now operating on a rigid orthodoxy that puts massive emphasis on the left. Students that are not lefties basically keep their mouths shut and go along with the flow. Otherwise they can be heavily singled out as evil.

I went to college a long time ago and had to take a class on political science and sociology as a requisite. My professor was marxist and when I took a test (testing was mostly writing and answering questions and discussing issues) I always made surer I pretended to be a socialist in my answers.

Paul, this is a very telling admission. It tells more about you than I think you realize.

College is supposed to be a place where all ideas are studied and considered.

A bit more to it than that.

College is supposed to be a place where all ideas are studied and considered, and the good ones are accepted while the poor ones are weeded out.

Too many people these days think "critical thinking" is just having a different opinion than the mainstream. It's not. It's about putting ideas to the test to come up with the best answer, not just a different answer.

Of course! However, by banning certain points of view they can manipulate the masses.

As opposed to the point you were originally responding to, showing how easily a tech company like Facebook can manipulate people by not banning certain speech. It's like you don't even know what you are responding to, you just take a contrarian position every time.

CM, they can ban what they do not like and favor what they like. Some consumers do not have a clue.

The problem begins with who decides what is 'hate' speech. Neither the right or the left is very good and being honest about that so until that day comes, and it never will, no one should be allowed to censure speech of anyone. If you don't like it, make fun, call out, ignore, take a nap but don't silence it. If you silence or out law something, it becomes taboo and more desired by the weak minded.

We have a very bad tendency in our society to govern for the stupid.

Capitalism has created the greatest prosperity in world history. You will not see this point of view in many universities.

In every university, this sentence would be marked with [citation needed].

The colleges should seek wisdom. No need to teach social justice and activism.
