I've voted and election day is something like 5 or so days away. That means it's time for projections as to how it goes this time.

Usually I have a good sense, and good track record for being right using the simple time proven system of "who's turn it is". That's the method where one ignores everything about the current issues, and who is running. One only uses who's the incumbent along with the last election's outcome to predict the next election.

Under that simple system this upcoming midterm election is a case of it historically being the Republican's turn.

But this time it doesn't quite fit that normal mode. Trump threw it all out of whack. Republicans seem to be entirely capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory this time. So instead of thinking that the Republicans are going to win this one, I don't know.

That's my projection. I Don't Know. I'm a bit hopeful this time instead of being adjusted to the idea that the Republicans are going to win this one for sure.

    :)

Back in January and February I used to go back and forth with a certain poster about the excitement I USED TO FEEL about Election Day. I pointed out that the relatively recent increase in the percentage of mail in ballots has ruined that feeling. Tonight's posts back me up.
This.....is ...... so tedious and frustrating.
I'll rehash again tonight what I said last winter.
Mail In voting should be for those who need it.
    SOME examples of that are:
    People who are physically challenged
    People who are medically challenged
People who will be out of town on election day
Our military heroes serving away from home
(as I said ....these are SOME examples)
..................YET if all of us who are not in those categories voted IN PERSON...ON ELECTION DAY...then I and many others in this nation would not feel so frustrated tonight.
Oregon does all of their voting by mail. They started in 1998. This is how it should be imo. Several states are adopting this as the norm. Let's do it nationally. There's no real good reason not to do mail in voting when it's been proven to work.

Republicans in FL were all about mail in voting years ago when it was dominated by them but then Democrats started using it to their benefit as well and then suddenly it was a bad system.

Pretty sure it was me, and I still don't care about your excitement level on election day. The point should be making the ballot box as accessible to as many eligible voters as possible, period. If that means your excitement takes a dip, so be it.

I'm just weird then. Election Day was Tuesday...but when I wake up on Saturday morning I still won't have the assurance that the Rs have the majority in the House. Yeah... let's have the entire nation mail in their ballot. Yup....that's a great idea!😂😂😂😂

Why are these #s the same as 24 hours ago?

Is it that one or two states are Counting paper ballots super slowly?
    Arizona? Nevada? Other(s)?
You need to understand what is happening. Mail ballots are allowed if postmarked by election day up to 5 to 7 days beyond election day.

It shouldn't be taken out on the voter if the mail is slow. There is no reason that some extra time should not be allowed. They still get it done soon enough.

So they're waiting for the mail in deadline to pass and then they, and only then will they generate the final results, because it doesn't benefit you, or them, to dribble it out a bit by bit, over days, which if they do that they will be pissed and moaned at like as if they are incompetent. Or worse yet, cheating.

No good deed ever goes unpunished! Those election people are pros, they know what the deal is. People will act like stupid people, and that sometimes isn't civilized enough Therefore you will have to wait for final results after the mail return deadline is reached and exceeded, and not get those dribbled down useless daily increment reports until those final results are ready.

It's your own damned fault. San Andre's fault is your fault.

Yes, it's your fault. Not ever my fault.

You have to understand how real people are to understand what and why it is going on.

Don't expect what is unreal, expect what it reasonable. There are usually reasons why things are the way they are.

So then I might as well give up watching the Election Night tv coverage. In Nov. 2024 I will just watch Hockey or Netflix and maybe by Thanksgiving I will go on google and see who won. ........So ridiculous!

You bet, I like that response. You get it now.

    Why not?

Do you realize that almost all of the states have votes outstanding? I can't find one that is reporting 100% at this point. Which actually is the norm. So...what's the problem? Maybe it's bad memory?

Yes I don't fit in here. No one agrees with me. All you healthy people with no transportation issues want to mail in your votes and wait until Thsnksgiving! I was perfectly happy staying off this forum for 3 months. You guys probably didn't miss me. So I will make you all happy and disappear again.

I agree. It's most important to ensure that voting is easily accessible, secure, and that every vote is counted and counted correctly. I don't have an issue with waiting beyond 'election night' if that's what's necessary for those conditions to be met.

Dood, idk why you're overreacting to discussion. It's just chit chat about the election. Not sure why you're being so defensive.
