IMO, if Biden wants to persuade people, including those who want to retain the right to own weapons for self defense, he really should learn more about guns. Based on prior statements as well those he made in the linked article, he seems hung up on the idea that a shotgun is the correct weapon for personal defense, and that a 2-3 round capacity is adequate. Furthermore, when he throws out "9mm" as if it is some unusually lethal round, he really sounds as though he is, at best, willfully ignorant and can't be trusted when it comes to legislation restricting gun ownership.

Isn't that what I have said all along... The only way for true gun control is for a cop to search you for an illegal weapon? In your scenario your guns are legal, because you are licensed to have it.

Therefore making new laws will have no effect until you get to this point here. Of the cops searching you and taking the gun if you are not legal to have it...

The license I have is to my weapon and does NOT cover any othe guns should I want more. I would need a permit for EVERY weapon I have (I only have one - the one I use for my national guard duty)

This is not random searches on the street or pulling over cars randomly or randomly going into someones home.

Not going to get into schematics... The point here is that for true gun control, The cops are involved and they can search... And I would wager that is there is suspicion that a person on the street has a gun without a permit, that the cops can stop, interrogate that person and search if needed...

Only with a warrant signed by a judge. If you don't have a gun permit and the police receives a report that you have a gun and find it credible, yes - then they will get a warrant and investigate. As I said - it is against the law to have an unregistered gun and you will go to jail if caught.

You're going to like our laws against knifes either. If you carry a hunting knife on the streets, you better be going hunting. Just carrying around as a deterent is illegal and will send you to jail for 2 weeks. Switchblades are totally forbidden to even own.

I sure hope you don't have any kids in your house, because the way you keep your guns is a receipe for disaster!

do you have evidence that the majority of the population that have guns in there home (much like the rifleman) have fear and paranoia in there life.

I’m pretty sure I fear nothing but God and am only paranoid when someone walks up on me after a good bowl. Anecdotally all of my friends are the same.

I don't think you understand the cultural differences here The police would never stop and search someone unless they have a good reason (known criminal or gun visible). They don't like the paperwork. Every time they stop and search someone (unless they are working security at the entrance to something) they MUST file a report. Every time they even unholster their gun - they must file a report, I know street cops who has drawn their weapons less than once a year!

I’m still curious, can the government go into anyone’s home and check their guns? Also, I have guns that are loaded and ready to fire at the moment.

1. one night stand (38 revolver)
2. One under the bed with the handle accessible (shotgun)

all are loaded and ready to roll. Of course the safe has the 308, 223, 17hmr, multiple hand guns and other cool weapons that I have collected over the years. I’m really starting to like expensive knives.

No cops do not inspect my house. National guard officers would be the one to do so since my license is under their jurisdiction. And you still don't get it - there are NO random stop and search.. There are NO boogie man cops

If the police wants to search a house they need a search warrant - issued by a judge precisely as they do in the US.

One thing you did get right though.. If an unlicenced weapon is found on you or in your house. You will go to jail. That goes for guns and for certain types of knives as well.

That is not it the difference is our country incarceration is a business not necessarily a state or federal thing. The need to keep private run prisons full is a real thing.

No. Not the same at all. She's describing a situation where the threshold of probable cause is high enough to make searches the exception and not the rule.

Your description seems to remove what liberties we have left, opening the door for blatant targeting for whatever reason. So, where a small town turned fiefdom wants to hassle certain businesses or the 'wrong' types of people, they can do it legally?

I live in a beautiful neighborhood on 7 acres that backs up to the river.

1. the revolver is for home protection
2. The shotgun is for snakes and rodents, specifically armadillos and water moccasins that nest around the pond
3. 300 blackout for the hogs that have a tendency to make a mess of the yard and scare the heck out of my Yorkies.

some of you maybe should not jump to conclusions. Oh, I do have a nice video surveillance system. no real reason other than I can view my property from my phone. And I can see who is coming down my extended driveway.
