Looks like the fight is on with Israeli soldiers and civilians amongst the dead already. Question becomes, how long before we get dragged into this?

I agree with everything except that there isn't much Biden can do to slow them down.

Biden's actions have only encouraged them to act with impunity. His public comments have given the impression that Israel is going to do what it is going to do, and the US stands with them no matter what.

That is why I am putting responsibility on Biden for whatever happens.
He's politically trapped. He has no other option even if he believes Palestinians should be moved from Gaza. If he opposes Israel's action, he's politically dead.

Our overaction to 911 made us less safe. We would have been better off doing absolutely nothing that what we did.

Israel's overreaction is going to make them less safe.
Question, do you think citizens in Gaza should heed Israel's request that they relocate south and out of the northern part of Gaza? Or to heed Hamas telling them not to move?

He's not a leader if he's making decisions based on politics.

I think they should evacuate, but it's really a joke telling them to evacuate.

They are 2.5 million people living in an area that is about half the size of New Orleans. Mostly kids.

It's not completely politics. Who would stop us when we were in a frenzy post 9/11. And there is doctrine that one has the right to defend one's self. It's tragic but we are in that moment.

None of us do, so we shouldn't pretend that this or that is going on behind the scenes.
It's not pretending when there is plenty going on behind the scenes. They're not gonna make ongoing negotiations details public until the deal is agreed to. It's precisely what happened with re-freezing the $6b. That had to be ironed out with Quatar and John Kirby refused to comment on it until it was a done deal.

And why nobody - who wants to be taken seriously - should be labeling Biden a war criminal.

There is just far too much involved - historically, diplomatically, sociopolitically - to be that recklessly over-reactionary at this stage.

Nor if he is morally bankrupt.
I think your rush to judgement would be a catastrophic approach. What should happen is we show open support to an ally, and work behind the scenes to try and find a path forward that doesn't involve killing millions of Palestinians and if Israel refuses to listen, then use the leverage we have as an ally to speak against injustice and pull our support at that point.

Israel has a right to defend themselves, and it's not as simple as just telling them to slow their roll.

That's what is meant when people say that Hamas hides among the population.

Yes. Someone that statement makes people feel that killing civilian's is just a side effect of what has to be done. Like it's a tornado going through there.

Israel is making a choice to drop over 6000 bombs in Gaza. Hamas has decided that civilians lives are less valuable than their own, and Israel is making that exact same choice. It is worth killing civilians if they can kill Hamas.

Really? Nature of the beast. Take a look at FDR. He knew that the Soviets would do the bleeding in Europe. He counted on it.

Saying Biden isn’t leading is simplistic. There is no leading in the Middle East. Carter managed peace between Israel and Egypt. What he did, imo, was put them together and remain a calm presence while the two sides hashed things out. Unfortunately, that won’t happen here. Not because Biden isn’t a leader but because circumstances have changed. Trump disgraced the country before the world and rigid ideologues populat Hamas and Bibi’s government.
