Russia continues to mass assets within range of Ukraine - though the official explanations are that they are for various exercises. United States intelligence has noted that Russian operatives in Ukraine could launch 'false flag' operations as a predicate to invasion. The West has pressed for negotiations and on Friday in Geneva, the US Sec. State Blinken will meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Certainly the Russian movements evidence some plan - but what is it? Some analysts believe that Putin's grand scheme involves securing Western commitments that NATO would never expand beyond its current composition. Whether that means action in Ukraine or merely the movement of pieces on the chess board remains to be seen.

VIENNA — No one expected much progress from this past week’s diplomatic marathon to defuse the security crisis Russia has ignited in Eastern Europe by surrounding Ukraine on three sides with 100,000 troops and then, by the White House’s accounting, sending in saboteurs to create a pretext for invasion.

But as the Biden administration and NATO conduct tabletop simulations about how the next few months could unfold, they are increasingly wary of another set of options for President Vladimir V. Putin, steps that are more far-reaching than simply rolling his troops and armor over Ukraine’s border.

Mr. Putin wants to extend Russia’s sphere of influence to Eastern Europe and secure written commitments that NATO will never again enlarge. If he is frustrated in reaching that goal, some of his aides suggested on the sidelines of the negotiations last week, then he would pursue Russia’s security interests with results that would be felt acutely in Europe and the United States.

There were hints, never quite spelled out, that nuclear weapons could be shifted to places — perhaps not far from the United States coastline — that would reduce warning times after a launch to as little as five minutes, potentially igniting a confrontation with echoes of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

...I have a limited amount of free time to post here and I ain't wasting it on people who constantly insult me.
"My times too precious to waste on you, so let me waste some of my precious time telling you how you aren't worth me wasting my precious time on and hope no one notices that I'm completely ignoring the very valid points you raised, mmmkay."

It's pretty simple. I won't waste my time responding to someone here...
"Let me waste my time responding again by saying I won't waste my time responding and fingers crossed that no one sees that I'm just desperately doing everything I can to distract everyone away from the fact I'm clueless on how to respond to the very valid points that poster raised. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can keep distracting everyone, mmmkay."

    ...to ignore people...
You don't ignore people. You ignore everything people say in disagreement with you, but unfortunately you don't ignore the people. You just can't quit us.

I'm quoting this post here because it also applies to this topic.

So which is it Oh, Donny Boy, did Putin invade Ukraine because it was his dream or did Putin invade Ukraine because he was scared of the big bad NATO and the scarey CIA Boogeymen?

Putin invaded Ukraine, because it was his dream. It was always because it was Putin's dream.

Trump's followers are just like him. The more they rant, the more they let the truth slip out.

    Rant, my little Trumpies, rant!

Well, I’ve been told by intelligence sources that Putin is committing war crimes.

    How gullible are you?

There is no way SFL actually pulls this directly from twitter himself. I refuse to believe SFL randomly follows some random anti-vax british MP.

No, he’s getting this from some sort of aggregator. I’ve asked him before, but he refuses to say where.

Oh, and he’s not even an MP, his bio says he’s a candidate for MP. So where is he getting any sort of intelligence briefing? The Kremlin? lol.

I do get it from X, but I don't follow Bridgen. Someone I follow reposted his post.

This is the exact opposite of what U.S. leaders, from Biden on down, have said publicly throughout the war: that if we don't stop Russia in Ukraine, he'll expand the war beyond Ukraine's borders.

Biden repeated this lie at last week's debate. Yet even though it explicitly contradicts US assessments, no one ever corrects it.

We don't have any MPs right now, as the general election is today.

He was an MP, but he went off the deep end a while back. Too loony for the Conservatives, who kicked him out, he was sitting, and is running, as an independent. While routinely tweeting absolutely batshit crazy stuff you'd have to be wildly gullible to believe.

He is not likely to get re-elected.

    Predictable post is predictable.

Why do you suppose your buddy never posts a link to the original article? Because he never does. Just cherry-picked quotes to prove his Kremlin-approved talking points. And you look at one tweet from this guy with extremely questionable ethics and motives and immediately swallow everything he says whole. Until you post the article, this post is just propaganda garbage.

Post the article, then we can talk. Not going to entertain this kind of garbage.
