Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

That would be great but I think that's even less likely than Texas

Well between you and I, the !@#@!#$#$ hotel rooms in DC that weekend are $800/night- and she cant stay with BF ( SELU wont allow, he already looked into lol ).

So if Harris carries LA this will be the most expensive election ever for me. lolol.

My wife and I would be willing to host if you'll need a place to stay.

Well if Harris pulls it off, i seriously may have to take you up. ( If she winds up wanting to go- he did say he would be in conferences all day so only would be able to see her in evening so she may not want to just walk DC solo- but then again, she loves DC and i could see here just museum hopping all day )

If La. goes blue, I'll help you out with the expenses.

dammit that gives me so much hope seeing just how involved our next generation of 18-21 yr olds are !!!
I saw a post on threads where a person, and I can't remember if he was a man of faith, answered a question about why their kids are leaving Christianity. In essence he said, it's not because they didn't listen to you. It's because they did. They listened when you taught them what it means to be a follower of christ. To be kind to your neighbors. To be forgiving. To be decent people. They listened!

A very dear family member has been struggling with this election. She is repulsed by Trump but she has been conditioned, in some of her closest relationships and her religious beliefs, to oppose Democrats.

She texted me a little while ago to let me know she voted. She voted for Harris.

I’m incredibly relieved and in a way, proud of her, because I know what she had to overcome in her thoughts to get there.

It’s consistent with other observations I’ve made, within my social circles and at-large, that women will be the story of this election.

I'm cautiously optimistic that what you say is exactly what's about to happen. I know Fox and the like don't show it to their viewers, but the stories out of Texas and other states of women being denied healthcare due to abortion laws are heartbreaking and infuriating.

I also think that IF late deciding voters are breaking for Harris, that MSG pseudo-Nazi rally and how the Trump campaign has acted since then will have a lot to do with it.

As someone who voted for Republicans for many years because I was a practicing Catholic and believed that it was sinful to vote for a Democrat because of abortion, all it takes is one election to break the hold of a single issue religious abortion voter. I remember in 2008 really wanting to vote for Obama because I was tired of the wars, lies, mad about the great recession, and just in general Republicans, but feeling I had to vote for McCain because he was anti-abortion. At least now, I can look back and know that I voted for an honorable person in McCain. But I remember so vividly watching Obama give his speech in Chicago on the night of the election and feeling so much hope for America and being really happy that he was elected, as I saw it as a real measure of progress for our nation. I instantly felt regret for my vote, and the next 4 years of lies and racism from the right along with the Tea Party movement only solidified my growing disgust with the Republican party. I couldn't wait to vote for Obama in 2012.
