Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

She doesn't have to suit me.
You sure about that, boss? You seem awfully demanding that she's not doing enough as far as your concerned.

She needs to suit the wafflers.
Are you in direct communication with these "wafflers?" How do you know what they need or want? Wait, are you one of them? Are you a "waffer?"

I could be wrong, but I believe this is going to remain an issue unless she makes it go away.
Nothing Harris can say will make this go away. You're detached from reality if you think Harris can make any story go away. That's not how any of it works.

I know this board leans left. I'm a lifelong Republican but #nevertrump. You folks have to have this feeling/thought process:

How in the EVER LIVING FORK can this race be a toss up? My mind races and races about this thought. I have no answers. I'm 100% serious.
Several people in the past few days have given you several examples of empirical early voting data that suggest the polls are wrong about it being a close race. Have you not read any of those posts?

Yea, I realize the polling can be off, but considering the mountain of evidence/reasons/etc. to distance oneself from the former President, he still commands almost half the population of America....
I think that's a myth that is about to be proven false, once and for all. I have never believed that Trump has more than at most 35% of the country, not voters, who truly support him. I believe without a doubt that it's a myth and it's always been a myth.

Eh, I've done that before more than a few times and I'm pretty healthy.

That said, him forking up makes me smile.
In isolation, doesn't really indicate anything. If you ever also have trouble censoring vulgar language and behavior, start talking lisping like a child while speaking like a child, have repeated issues being aware of were you are and when it is, and have moments were you stop in the middle of doing or saying something to just stand around for a few minutes while staring blankly into space, then you should get yourself checked out. I'm not kidding.

You could either be very depressed or suffering from a neurological health issue.

Saying California had a decrease in population just because not enough housing was built is a ridiculous over simplification. That's part of it, but increasingly worse weather in the form of wildfires, blizzards. flooding, drought and extreme heat are also big factors.

He looks like the Chick-Fil-A manager out walking the drive-through line
He looks like the character Woody in the animated series Brickleberry when he was tricked into doing things that made him look like a red fish. Couldn't find any images to add to the post. The way he's standing reminds me of Officer Barbrady from South Park, "nothing to see here."

I think there's a whole lot more people struggling with emotional dysfunction issues than stupidity. The crisis we are facing stems from emotional and educational issues, not intelligence issues.

That looked like a depth perception issue. Depth perception issues are one of the symptoms of dementia that people often overlook.
I thought at first that he grabbed the handle and his hand slipped off, maybe because it was wet. But somebody on Twitter slowed it down and you are correct. He missed the handle - twice. He didn’t get his hand far enough to grab it.

Lots of memes and tweets and posts and videos are popping up, assuring women that they can keep their votes secret from their husbands and boyfriends.

The unspoken assumption is that lots of women are bullied, intimidated or controlled by their partners, specifically in straight couples when she wants to vote for Harris and he supports Trump.

The messages assure these intimidated voters that they can vote in peace and privacy at a polling place. But a lot of Americans now vote by mail, which generally means they fill out their ballots at home, where that privacy may not be available.

On the one hand, I’m glad there’s outreach to those voters. On the other, the way these messages are framed seem to regard the grim reality that a lot of women live in fear of their spouses as a given hardly worth stating outright, let alone decrying.

I get that right now we’re fighting for the future of democracy in America, the public version in which rights and norms and the rule of law are preserved – as the Washington Post humor columnist Alexandra Petri put it: “I am endorsing Kamala Harris for president, because I like elections and want to keep having them.”

But a lot of households are not democracies; they’re dictatorships. This may impact public life, in that it seems to generate a meaningful amount of voter intimidation and suppression.

As in previous election cycles, people doing door-to-door outreach to voters are encountering men who prevent their wives from even conversing at the door or who believe their registered-Democrat wives are Republicans and women fearful of speaking or of disclosing their party and chosen candidates.

One Pennsylvania man who has been canvassing for several weeks told me: “So many times we ... have knocked on doors and when both husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend have come to the door together, after hearing what we were there for so often the man stayed and the woman walked away ‘to do other things’, or the man came out to talk to us.

Often the woman would come out by herself and say or whisper: ‘I’m with her and he doesn’t know it.’”

Another friend reached a voter by phone, who told her that because her husband wasn’t in the car, she could admit she was voting Democratic.

Coercive control is an issue in households of all races and political orientations, but only this configuration – Maga man, Democratic-leaning woman – seems to impact the right to vote in such a visible and potentially impactful way………

CNN) — Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told supporters on Monday that former President Donald Trump has promised to give him “control” of several public health agencies, including the US Department of Health and Human Services and the US Department of Agriculture, if he wins a second term in November.

Kennedy, who suspended his independent presidential campaign in August and endorsed Trump, said during a livestreamed organizing event that Trump told him he’d oversee a vast public health portfolio if the former president returns to the White House, and added that he’d prioritize his agenda for “making America healthy.”

“The key that I think I’m – you know, that President Trump has promised me is – is control of the public health agencies, which are HHS and its sub-agencies, CDC, FDA, NIH and a few others, and then also the USDA, which is – which, you know, is key to making America healthy. Because we’ve got to get off of seed oils, and we’ve got to get off of pesticide intensive agriculture,” Kennedy said, according to video of the event obtained by CNN…….

Donald Trump is considering withholding federal police grants to local agencies that refuse to carry out his mass deportation plan, a report claims.

The former president has said that, if elected, he will implement a drastic plan to remove migrants and immigrants who have come to the United States – especially via the U.S.–Mexico border.

In order to make the plan work, members of Trump’s team have floated the idea of holding funds hostage to motivate local police to participate, three people close to his campaign told NBC News……

I understand the desire to deport illegal immigrants, but law enforcement should have discretion. Imagine all the damaging crimes that will have to be ignored, and worse yet, the crimes that will have to be committed in a dragnet for Trump to go after illegal immigrants that are otherwise law-abiding. There will be a spike in crimes since cops will be diverted, and citizens will be harassed and some get caught-up in the deportation. The anger and fear this will stoke will also lead to a network similar to the Underground Railroad. This is leading us back to another civil war.

John Oliver did a segment this week on the Mass Deportation plan. He talks about the logistics and cost and how it would actually make housing more scarce and cost jobs. Normally his segments can be found on YouTube.

Here is an article about it.

    Uck-Fay the Afflers-way.

This election is about getting your people out to vote.

The undecideds aren't kingmakers this time.

If women get out and pull the lever, Harris wins going away.

    If they don't, Cheato's got a shot.
It all depends on whether the polls are correct. If Pennsylvania is truly even, then wafflers will make the difference. It's wishcasting that the polls are wrong, and that's not the way campaigns should operate.

He is a dilettante as well as an idiot.

And this is where your line of thinking breaks from reality.

Nothing Harris can say will keep the fascist right wing media from continuing to pump lied about this story.

If as you constantly claim, some voters are on a razor fine edge as to who to vote for, then nothing Harris can say will keep the fascist right wing lies from pushing them over the edge toward Trump.

Your line of thinking is illogical.
Almost seems like some people are looking for any reason not to vote for her, and simultaneously ignoring the mountain of reasons against Trump
