Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

I understand your overall sentiment. Kamala really has done everything asked of her. She left it all out on the field as the saying goes.

However, if Kamala loses I put that on Joe not dropping out and giving us a primary. A combo of Whitmer/Sharpio with either leading the ticket would have made the blue wall impenetrable.

I do think she is going to win though.
I agree. I definitely think Harris will win. But it's also true that Biden should have dropped out prior to the primaries. I don't know this for a fact, but I have to think the DNC is more responsible for that decision than anyone else.

Basically, I suspect the DNC persuaded Biden to run again. Remember looking back that Biden should have run against Trump instead of Hillary. The only reason that didn't happen was because Beau died shortly before that. I don't think Biden intended to serve 2 terms at his age. He's even on record as saying the only reason he stayed on was to run against Trump.

I really think that if Biden runs against Trump in the 2016 election, he wins handily and Trump never runs for president again. That's one of the biggest what-ifs I've had over the years. I'll always be convinced Hillary should never have been nominated to begin with. Neither Trump since he's much less qualified than Hillary, but it was what it was.

On the economy, which I'm constantly told by polls of voters is the most important topic.

We ( @UriUT and I ) were just chatting about this on the Economics/Trade thread.

ill repeat here what i said there....that for the general citizen ( polled ), the "economy" question isnt about the US economy, its their "personal economy" - i.e.- does my take home pay buy more today than 4 years ago? ( grocery, gas, housing )

Thats the basis from which they answer that question.

The topic isnt "is the US Economy" better, because they arent knowledgeable enough to answer that. GDP (growth), jobs, core inflation, investment, trade, money supply etc factors that determine the health of an "economy"

no, its relative to them and them alone.

There are many voters who are doing better today than they were 4 years ago, but they will say the opposite in support of Trump. We have video proof of this.

Likewise, when the news media reports on the economy when a Republican is president, it's all GDP, inflation, stock market, etc. But when it's a Democrat that is president, it's all "people don't FEEL the good economy", whether that is factual or not.

I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.

I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor.

My time as Governor taught me to love policy and ignore politics. I’m proud of the work I did to help clean up our air, create jobs, balance the budget, make the biggest infrastructure investment in state history, and take power from the politicians and give it back to the people when it comes to our redistricting process and our primaries in California.

That’s policy. It requires working with the other side, not insulting them to win your next election, and I know it isn’t sexy to most people, but I love it when I can help make people’s lives better with policies, like I still do through my institute at USC, where we fight for clean air and stripping the power from the politicians who rig the system against the people.

Let me be honest with you: I don’t like either party right now. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, driven up deficits, and rejected election results.

Democrats aren’t any better at dealing with deficits, and I worry about their local policies hurting our cities with increased crime.

It is probably not a surprise that I hate politics more than ever, which, if you are a normal person who isn’t addicted to this crap, you probably understand.

I want to tune out.

But I can’t. Because rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets. To someone like me who talks to people all over the world and still knows America is the shining city on a hill, calling America is a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic, it makes me furious.

And I will always be an American before I am a Republican.

That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don’t recognize our country. And you are right to be furious.

For decades, we’ve talked about the national debt. For decades, we’ve talked about comprehensive immigration reform that secures the border while fixing our broken immigration system. And Washington does nothing.

The problems just keep rolling, and we all keep getting angrier, because the only people that benefit from problems aren’t you, the people.

The only people that benefit from this crap are the politicians who prefer having talking points to win elections to the public service that will make Americans’ lives better.

It is a just game to them. But it is life for my fellow Americans. We should be pissed!

But a candidate who won’t respect your vote unless it is for him, a candidate who will send his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke, a candidate who has shown no ability to work to pass any policy besides a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people like me but helped no one else else, a candidate who thinks Americans who disagree with him are the bigger enemies than China, Russia, or North Korea - that won’t solve our problems.

It will just be four more years of bullshirt with no results that makes us angrier and angrier, more divided, and more hateful.

We need to close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know that former President Trump won’t do that.

He will divide, he will insult, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will get nothing but more anger.

That’s enough reason for me to share my vote with all of you. I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have plenty of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz.

Vote this week. Turn the page and put this junk behind us.

And even if you disagree with me, vote, because that’s what we do as Americans. vote.org

What an awesome message. It's like he's speaking to me. Good on you Arnold!

Scathing editorial from the Las Vegas Sun regarding both Trump and Vance. Just wish it had come out ahead of early voting and that more publications were stepping up in this grave moment.

Americans from both sides of the political spectrum should be alarmed by Trump’s words and behavior. The nation must confront the fact that beyond his hateful character, he is crippled cognitively and showing clear signs of mental illness.

There’s no need to resort to armchair psychology to interpret what’s apparent. If victorious, Trump would be the oldest president ever inaugurated. In recent weeks, he has canceled an increasing number of public appearances, with Trump’s own campaign citing the candidate’s exhaustion. When he does appear publicly, Trump struggles to complete sentences or sustain coherent thoughts, and has shown a pronounced difficulty concentrating and a tendency to repeat himself, sometimes within the same sentence.

At a recent rally in New Hampshire, for example, Trump began to discuss infrastructure and wound up segueing into a disjointed monologue about loyalty and perceived injustices against him, ending with a bewildering comment about windmills causing cancer.

Donald Trump is considering withholding federal police grants to local agencies that refuse to carry out his mass deportation plan, a report claims.

The former president has said that, if elected, he will implement a drastic plan to remove migrants and immigrants who have come to the United States – especially via the U.S.–Mexico border.

In order to make the plan work, members of Trump’s team have floated the idea of holding funds hostage to motivate local police to participate, three people close to his campaign told NBC News……

If Trump wins because 80 - 90 million people made a choice to vote for him, and those people are ignorant forks.

Even if Kamala wins, the country isn’t worth saving when at least 1/3 are amoral forkeads claiming to be Christian’s worshipping a conman and following him straight to hell.

fork self government. We aren’t gaining ground here. People are already too forking stupid to self govern, and stupid has all of the monentum.

Trump wants to defund the police.
