Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Are you this adamant about consequences every time Trump says some awful thing? (You can’t possibly be.)
No because Trump is expected to be hateful. That’s why some right-leaning people don’t want to vote for him. If she doesn’t address this mess-up, they may decide not to vote for her either.

I don’t think he is, but it does demonstrate the double standard generally applied. I don’t know why Trump gets a pass from even a minimum standard, but he does. And the same people who give him that pass hold Kamala to a ridiculously high standard.

It’s not about MAGA voters. It’s about the right leaning undecideds coming to the conclusion that she is also garbage for not clearly denouncing that comment. Her campaign has tried to be different than Trump’s hatefilled campaign, but she is associated with Biden and she has to address the mess-up.

For not clearly denouncing a comment someone else made that has nothing to do with her that the speaker of said comment already addressed? This is some world-class bothsidesism.

Anybody who attempts to equate Harris with Trump on the matter of being hateful isn’t paying enough attention, and any such group of undecided people would represent an insignificant data point in voting.

So Trump is expected to be a low life scumbag so you grade him on a very generous curve. Meanwhile here you are making demands of Kamala to apologize for the current US President.

So, that voter is going to abandon her because her boss, the POTUS, "misspoke" calling trump supporters "garbage" and turn to vote for trump? A man who has called Harris a retard, implied that she is a whore, and a low IQ hunt?

    OK.

If I was her, I'll take my chances and let Biden's cleaned up statement stand. :9:

Then I would litter Truth Social with this image:

Exactly. I don’t believe the hypothetical “undecided” he describes exists.

BS. Biden cleaned it up. It has nothing to do with Harris. She has made it clear that she will work with everyone from the beginning.

For crap’s sake - Trump put out a speaker at his rally that called Harris the “anti-Christ” while brandishing a crucifix. I haven’t seen a single reporter focus on that - or demand Trump apologize for it. Hell, he says pretty much the same crap about her - that she’s evil and that democrats are loony and want to destroy America. Where’s the focus on that?

This double standard makes my blood boil.
Oh come on, you're better than that. You can't worry about what standard the hold themselves to or what double standard they hold themselves to. You hold yourself and the people you support accountable. As long as you do that, how they behave shouldn't affect you.

The media is gonna focus on what's sensational. It sucks, but that's more a symptom of our society and how we consume news.

From a purely strategic standpoint, what Joe said was poor form. He may or may not have meant it, but for a guy with as many years of politics and election strategy, he should recognize what he said wasn't good. He or his team recognized it and acknowledged it was a mistake.

Certainly some are going to milk it for all its worth because that's what they do, but Joe can support Harris and spin a positive message about her campaign and let others say what they want about MAGAidiots and Trump.

Life ain't fair, but we should still do what's right even if others aren't held to the same standard.

I cannot agree with you. Harris has no reason to bring it up. If she is asked she can address it. The whole thing is just a complete BS move by MAGA to clutch their pearls about something they are mostly making up. Biden’s statement is clearly singular. He was referring to the comedian. He said when he cleaned it up he really meant the rhetoric. This is nothing.

The double standard needs to be called out, repeatedly. We wouldn’t tolerate that in our jobs, life, or even the sports we watch. Why should we tolerate it in a presidential election?

And for what it’s worth this is apparently the transcript of Biden’s stuttering statement. This isn’t really a scandal at all.

The interpretation comes down to whether or not an apostrophe is understood in “supporter’s”. Biden cleaned it up to say that is how it was intended.

The people who want to light their hair on fire about this aren’t going to read it with the apostrophe, and it’s not going to matter what Biden or Harris say.

It’s also not going to matter much by Thursday morning unless we’re about to hit a lull in this election **** show.

I think it’s being underestimated just how many people in this country believe Trump and his cult are, in fact, a garbage factory.

I believe that. And I’m tired of trying to be sensitive to their feelings. If they think I think they’re stupid or ignorant, or condescend to them, so be it.
