Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

It would be stupid to even address it! Biden cleaned up his mess, why would Harris give it more life by even acknowledging it? If she's asked about it, the best thing is for her to say is "We are going forward. We've turned the page and we're not going back!"

She has prominent Republicans on the trail with her, no need to placate the radical extremist of trump that celebrate calling her a whore and a name that rhymes with shunt.
You’re kidding yourself if you think this won’t stick. If she waits a few days, the apology won’t be as effective.

That comment may turnoff some undecideds that were appalled by the Puerto Rico comment. If she doesn’t apologize, she will lose the advantage she gained by that insult of Puerto Ricans. The comment is worse coming from the president than from a comedian.

That comment won't turn off anyone undecided. The only people that will upset are MAGA.

I'll remind everyone this was Trump last week:

We're like a garbage can for the rest of the world to dump the people they don't want.

It is going to dominate the discussion tomorrow. I anticipate Republicans are going to run ads on it. It is a huge distraction that Harris should not ignore. Biden should apologize and admit he misspoke, and Harris should as well.

No it won't. It will be a footnote to Harris speech on the Ellipse tomorrow.

The belief that Harris has to strongly condemn a mis-statrment by Biden (that he has already addressed/clarified), that was made during something that wasn't a campaign event, and made at the same time she was giving her own speech telling all of America what exactly she believed, is wild.

Refer questions to Biden’s office. Run your own adds comparing what Harris said in the ellipse to what Trump has said, side by side. Republicans will be talking and Biden, Harris will be taking and Trump. Harris wins!

Y'all need to stop playing Republicans game.

I could even make a case that she could defend Joe here.

“Joe gets a little bit fired up when he sees Americans being bad-mouthed like Trump and his cohorts do. It made him mad to see the way they treat other Americans. He made his statement and you should refer to that.”

I disagree. Anyone who would have come over to Kamala because of the “joke” about Puerto Rico isn’t going to go back to Trump because of Biden’s comments. And I don’t buy for a second that there is any voter that was leaning Kamala got flipped by Biden’s comment. No one even cares what Biden is saying lately unless they’re watching right wing media anyway.

Why would Puerto Rican's get upset about Biden calling Trump supporters garbage in a mis-statement? You don't think they feel the same after what they saw at MSG?

Check back tomorrow. It is foolish to not distance yourself from anything that may turn off voters. Biden is her boss. He messed up, and Harris needs to be clear that she doesn’t think Americans that disagree are garbage, even if they are. I know she said similar things in her speech, but she needs to confront this, not ignore it. No matter how unpleasant it is, she needs normal people to vote for her, and this will turn off some of the normal people. Some that lean Republican that don’t like the way Trump talks don’t need reasons to think she’s bad too.

    An even better story:

Joe wants to help the campaign, but the Harris doesn't think it's a great idea. Joe signal boost the biggest fumble of the Trump campaign so far by causing a mini-scandal with a spicy tweet referencing the Trump fumble. He walks it back within hours, but it's already done it's job.

That’s not good enough. She needs to say she doesn’t believe Americans that disagree with her are garbage. Then she can refer people to Biden.

People are mad at Trump for not apologizing. His vague separation was inadequate. If Harris makes the same mistake or doesn’t clarify that she doesn’t think Americans that disagree are garbage, then she will lose that advantage.

She didn't say it, though. She has said throughout her campaign that she will work with anyone and everyone to keep this country heading in the right direction.

Jesus Christ, dude. Bret Baier tried to bait her into that and she answered him perfectly. But now she’s supposed to apologize for Biden’s comment? And bring more attention to the issue? Nope. Just ignore it and move on. It is changing no votes as is. None.

    You're being way to hyperbolic.

It's the epitome of "Harris (and now apparently everybody around her) has to be flawless while Trump gets to be lawless."

If this irrelevant incident is what tips the scale on how anybody votes, they were never going to vote for Harris.

She said as much in her speech.

If a muffed comment from Biden is really going to transcend every horrible thing Trump and his minions have said, and overshadow a brilliant speech from Kamala, then just pull the plug on America now.

Trump also didnt make the Puerto Rico comment, but people are crucifying him because he hasn’t clearly denounced it.

What you are not getting - well 2 things:

Harris has never ever indicated anything about Trump supporters. Ever. She doesn’t have to dance to anyone’s tune because of something that Biden said.

The two sides are NOT THE SAME. Even if Biden didn’t walk it back - it’s nothing compared to the sheer volume of vitriol and hate that everyone involved with the Trump campaign spews out daily. By saying what you are saying - you are making one jumbled statement the SAME as a campaign based on hate.
