People are mad at Trump for not apologizing. His vague separation was inadequate. If Harris makes the same mistake or doesn’t clarify that she doesn’t think Americans that disagree are garbage, then she will lose that advantage.

This isn't 2016. What percentage of Republicans think the MAGA base is garbage? The 20% that voted for Nikki Haley. They made statement with their vote.

I’ve heard interviews of Puerto Ricans today saying they are mad that he didn’t apologize much sooner. They were mad it took 2 days for the campaign to even somewhat distance itself.

No, but it was made at his rally in front of his crowd. Kamala was giving a unifying, positive speech at the same time. I would also like to point out that Trump has already commented on what Biden said, which only amplifies his silence on Tony Hinchcliffe's comments.

What you are not getting - well 2 things:

Harris has never ever indicated anything about Trump supporters. Ever. She doesn’t have to dance to anyone’s tune because of something that Biden said.

The two sides are NOT THE SAME. Even if Biden didn’t walk it back - it’s nothing compared to the sheer volume of vitriol and hate that everyone involved with the Trump campaign spews out daily. By saying what you are saying - you are making one jumbled statement the SAME as a campaign based on hate.

Some Right leaning people that want to vote for Harris want to do so because she doesn’t represent hate. If she is viewed as hateful too, some percentage of them won’t vote for her.

I’m sure many in the media are going to latch on to this, trying desperately to make more of it than it is, consistent with the already abysmal job they are doing covering the candidates and campaigns.

It’s likely to have virtually no impact on the electorate. It’s all mostly noise at this point. People isolating on this one comment aren’t considering the inevitable torrent of garbage that is going to come from Trump and MAGA over the next week.

Biden was not with Harris. He wasn't stumping for Harris. He hasn't even been invovled in the campaign.
